Great to be able to stay at a lighthouse, great views and an interesting tour of the lighthouse is included in the stay. Comfortable and clean cottage, would recommend but to note it is very remote.

Absolutely perfect location for bird watching and hiking, and the cottage is meticulously well kept and maintained. Very cosy (when its windy its much appreciated,) and weatherproof. Very short walk to the coffee house and its also a great base for exploring Galloway as a whole. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and will be back. The cottage is practical and warm, snug against the wind that was constant during our 3-day stay. It is well-equipped with comfortable beds and bedding and a great shower. The kitchen had everything we needed and tea towels, bin bags and kitchen roll were all provided. The setting is spectacular - not only is the lighthouse a beautiful and historicRead more structure, the surrounding cliffs and meadowland are full of interesting birdlife and wildflowers. The exhibition centre is excellent, staffed by very friendly people. Our only regret was that our stay didn't cover the days when the tower itself is open to the public - Mondays and Saturdays. Hide

Well impressed on the cottage as we entered initially. much larger than we anticipated. A wonderful peaceful setting directly under a lighthouse that lit up at night much to our grandchildren's delight. The views on clear days are spectacular seeing the isle of man and Northern Ireland and the other side of Luce bay all from a wonderful shared gardRead moreen area to the rear. The night sky so clear we were lucky enough to watch a meteor shower during our stay. Plenty of nearby beaches for grand kids to play and Grandads to fish on. A trip to port Loggan Fish pool recommended but check opening times on their website first. Not much privacy on a morning and during the day with tourists walking around the front of the cottage but it is a working lighthouse museum after all and we did have multiple free access to this as cottage guests and if you have things planned to do during the day anyway this shouldn't bother too much. We highly recommend on bringing a few food supplies with you to begin your stay if you arrive late like we did as the nearest village shop in Drummore closes at around 5pm and the next supermarkets are in Stranraer closing at 9pm/10pm would mean a good 80 - 90 minute round trip. Tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch on our arrival. All in all we had a lovely little break in peacefull surroundings and would like to come back again. Hide
