This retreat sits just outside Dartmoor National Park (5 miles) so you can embark on long walking adventures and look out for the Dartmoor ponies in this scenic location – there are plenty of walking trails from the front door too. Lydford Gorge is home to the stunning Devil’s Cauldron and sits just 6.5 miles away, while the lovely market towns of Tavistock and Launceston, both within 14 miles, are worth a visit for independent cafes, boutique shops and charming restaurants. If you fancy a day by the sea, head to popular Bude (24 miles) and discover its beaches, surf shops and family attractions.
Making your way up the external stairway will bring you to the wonderful, decked balcony to the front of the roundhouse. From here, head inside to discover the open-plan interior which features one whole circular design, encompassing the charming sitting area, kitchen, dining table for two and the double bed. It’s easy to unwind in this beautiful space with exposed stone and old wooden beams showing the original design of this roundhouse. The kitchen area is elegant and well equipped, while the sofa offers a restful space to watch the Smart TV or unwind with a book or magazine after busy days fishing and exploring the landscape. After nightfall, the double bed is a cosy space to sleep, meanwhile the only space separated by a door from the rest of the roundhouse is the charming shower room, perfect for freshening up each day. Guests can also benefit from the convenience of two off-road, private parking spaces at the property.
Outside, the beautiful, decked balcony offers seating for two and views out over the wonderful fishing lake and grounds. Cast your line out across the 1.5-acre lake and see what you can reel in, it’s stocked with carp, bream, tench, and perch. The Lake House is a wonderful, covered BBQ area, shared with all guests and sits right on the banks of the lake. One of the additional lakes has enchanting veranda seating, while lovely wildlife meadows have been planted throughout the grounds that come to life during the spring and summer months and offer lovely places to walk.
