Goosehill is one of 7 beautifully converted barns with brand new furnishings and fittings which now form the peaceful hamlet of Penrose Burden.  It has been renovated to create the perfect retreat in a designated dark sky area with stunning views across the Camel Valley.  The location provides easy access to North Cornwall coast including Port Isaac, Padstow, Rock, Boscastle and Polzeath and the cottage is perched on the very edge of the majestic Bodmin Moor which is surely one of the last completely unspoilt places in England. Its central location makes both coastlines easily accessible; the South with its long sandy beaches, historic ports, secluded creeks and the Eden Project, and the North with its dramatic cliffs, quiet coves, grand country houses and historic market towns. You can also enjoy a welcome tray of a cream tea on arrival and Organic Trevarno guest toiletries in the bathroom.

The open plan lounge/kitchen/diner is luxurious, the owners have thought of all their guests needs, there are even usb charger points in all the rooms and the two en suite bedrooms are perfect for families or friends wishing to stay in this wonderful part of Cornwall.  If you wish to book the other cottages here, there is also The LinneyButterwell, Otterbridge, Troutstream, Jingles and Snappers.

There is a fabulous local pub nearby serving great food and perfect for a Sunday roast, a well stocked local shop and Post Office and access to walks over Bodmin Moor.  A short walk to the start of the Camel Trail for walking or cycling where you can find the fabulous 'Snail's Pace Café' and also close to local craft at Wenfordbridge Pottery. A country lane stroll away, you will also find the lovely St Tudy Inn. Cornwall's favourite attractions are all accessible - Eden, Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Lanhydrock House and Pencarrow House to name but a few.

Goosehill has been recognised by We Are Cycling UK as a Cycle Friendly Place and is even part of a Strava segment!

We had a lovely stay at Penrose Burden (Goosehill Cottage). Ian and Jane are the perfect hosts - we appreciated the lovely welcome goodies. The cottage is so comfortable, well furnished and maintained to the highest standard. There is a good enclosed garden for dogs, and the provision of towels and throws for the dogs was welcome. The cottaRead morege is situated in a great area for exploring the coast from Padstow to Tintagel and beyond, with some fabulous coastal walks nearby. It is in a very peaceful location with beautiful views across the Camel Valley. We will definitely return! Hide

We loved these beautiful old Cornish buildings with modern interiors. The king sized beds and large comfortable sofa made sure that we were comfortable day and night. The beautiful setting in the Camel valley with amazing views made everything perfect. Local shops within a mile or two supplied our daily needs. Nearby moorland walks and 30 minutesRead more drive from some stunning, dog friendly beaches and beautiful Cornish towns were the icing on the cake. Hide

We had a wonderful stay in Goosehill. The cottage itself is clean and very well appointed while the location is perfect - within 20 minutes drive of numerous amenities and attractions yet remote enough to feel like a secluded escape. The countryside around the property is absolutely beautiful, as is the setting itself, while Jane and Ian were frienRead moredly, attentive and generous hosts. We very much enjoyed our time here and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in the area. Hide

We were so delighted with Goosehill on our arrival. Such a cozy cottage and spotlessly clean. It is down some narrow country lanes and some reviews state it is remote. Personally we didnt think it was remote in the least and Cornwall is full of narrow lanes anyway. It was in the most beautiful area with the most stunning views down to the Camel traRead moreil which was literally a 3 minute drive away. We were very lucky with the weather for October. The cottage has all you need to self cater regarding kitchen equipment and the beds have to be the most comfy. We havent slept that well in years. It is so quiet and peaceful. The cream tea and dog treats were a really thoughtful and welcome gift on our arrival. We would stay here again in a heartbeat the owners are lovely. So kind and very welcoming and there if you need them for anything. Five Hide

We received a very nice welcome. The owners are very friendly and helpful with everything. It should be emphasized that we have rarely had such a clean and well-equipped holiday apartment. The mattresses are simply fantastic. I have never slept as well in a hotel as I did in Goosehill. If we visit Cornwall again we would book here again.

The property itself was fabulous and suited our needs with 2 couples and a dog. Everything was of a high standard and the owners had taken great trouble to think of everything you might need, including doggie biscuits and towels and a lovely welcoming cream tea. It was only the position which we felt was limiting.
