Cottages in Bude

Sitting on the North Cornwall coast, Bude is renowned for its fabulous Blue Flag beaches, fresh pasties and famous seafood. You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to booking your holiday cottage in Bude. We have an excellent portfolio of holiday rentals with dog-friendly and family friendly self-catering cottages by the sea. Our three-, four- and five-star holiday cottages are stylish, comfortable and within easy reach of various sandy beaches, the Bude Sea Pool and of course, the South West Coast Path – which offers excellent walking routes and awesome sea views. You can pick up this 630-mile coastal path at any point to discover the surrounding area on foot, including walks to Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven.

Bude was voted the Best UK Coastal Resort in the British Travel Awards in 2018, and it’s easy to see why it has held this accolade. The town has a good range of facilities with some lovely independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Be sure to stop off at the award-winning Cornish Pie Company for some of the best handmade pies in Cornwall. Dine in and relax in the rustic ambiance or pick up a takeaway to eat on the beach.

Whether you’re looking for a luxury retreat with sea views or prefer to be tucked away in the rolling Cornish countryside, you’re never very far from Bude’s main attractions.

Summerleaze Beach is just a five-minute stroll from Bude’s centre and there’s a large car park which leads directly onto the dunes. This dog-friendly beach (dogs should be kept on leads) is the main beach for the town and very popular with families. Look out for Bude Sea Pool which was built in the early 20th century to provide safe bathing without having to dip your toes into the Atlantic currents. A haven for swimming which is recognised worldwide, Bude Sea Pool received the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice, awarded to attractions in the top 10% worldwide in 2020.

You can’t visit Cornwall without surfing, so head to Crooklets Beach which was awarded Blue Flag Status in 2021 and home to Bude Surf Life Saving Club. This broad and sandy beach is also perfect for rock pooling and has good amenities including a cafe, a pub, outdoor showers, a play park and a skate park.

Crabbing is a favourite pastime, so remember to pick up a bucket and line in town. Find yourself a beach base for the day and book one of the traditional wooden beach huts (contact Bude Tourist Information Centre). Bude’s beaches are perfect for families, with excellent facilities including play areas and beach cafes. Hire a rowing boat or pedalo to explore the Bude Canal and learn about Bude’s geology and history at Bude’s Heritage Centre – there’s something for everyone.
