Here we are, giving away our penultimate cottage in our great Cottage Giveaway. This time we are excitedly giving away a 7 night stay to David Booth in the pretty cottage, Garden Flat deep amongst the rolling hills of Central Wales. Not just a fabulous free holiday, but our lucky winners have also gone away with 2 fabulous Wildshores jackets, thanks to Regatta Great Outdoors clothing. What a treat.

As we have now come accustomed to doing; here’s a little introduction to this fabulous part of Wales and a sneak peak into what our lucky winners can get upto!

Garden Flat is situated at a 1400ft elevation, with stunning scenery of open farmland and panoramic views out towards Radnor Forest. Just a few miles North lies the almost undiscovered village, ruined Abbey and gardens of Abbeycwmhir; a village nestled within the Cambrian Mountains and a true slice of the world as it once was. A must do is to visit the private Gothic Hall at Abbeycwmhir, the owners treat their guests to an unforgettable tour of their well loved historical home. The walled gardens are splendid!

For getting out and about and discovering the fantastic scenery we suggest you pop on your walking boots or take your bicycle and head out to Radnor Forest - not a forest in the usual sense of the word, but an open and unenclosed rock dome; on a very large scale. Trails vary from a gentle 6 mile stroll to an epic 18 mile hike through unspoilt landscapes all offering excellent yomping and some breathtakingly dramatic vistas.

The cottage is close to the town of Rhayader, a gateway to the stunning Elan waterfalls deep in the Elan Valley. A fantastical backdrop for cyclists, walkers and budding photographers. These dams, reservoirs and a 73 mile aqueduct were built over a 100 years ago in a desperate bid to supply clean water to Birmingham. They are a majestic and epic engineering feat set within an equalling area of outstanding scenic beauty. A stunning sight and well worth a visit.

The whole of this area is an outdoor lovers paradise, providing mile beyond mile of breathtaking scenery, walks, trails and cycleways - and of course,  also offering fabulous opportunities to test your John Wayne impressions and try a bit of pony trekking - Just don’t mimic any O.K. Corral antics!!

There’s so much to see in and around this beautiful property and we’re sure David Booth and partner, won’t tire of finding an excuse for getting out and about. But if they need a rest day, then where better to enjoy some R and R than Garden Flat with those unbelievable views! We are keeping our fingers crossed for sunny days!

If after reading all this, is seems just a bit too irresistible, then have a browse through our Welsh properties on the website and book your very own holiday out in the Great Outdoors.
