Our Favourite Winter Walks in Dorset

Experience the truly wonderful coast and countryside this winter, here are a few of our favourite winter walks for you to enjoy!

Old Harry Rocks, Purbeck

Park at South Beach Carpark and take the path up to Old Harry Rocks that you can see in the distance. The views are breath-taking and well worth the effort, but be aware of the sheer cliff edges.

Thorncombe Woods, Nr Hardy's Cottage

From the National Trust Car Park there are a number of trails to pick from – depending how energetic you feel! Look out for the group of Dartmoor ponies that frequent the woods.

Little Bredy Waterfall, Little Bredy

Hidden in the Bride Valley inland from the coast, Little Bredy is a small and pretty estate village. The River Bride tumbles down a waterfall from its spring source into a lake behind Bridehead House. Both the house and the waterfall featured in the TV series ‘Broadchurch’.

Storridge Hill, Beaminster

Start in the beautiful market square in Beaminster where you will find a choice of pubs and restaurants to enjoy at the end of your walk. This ramble will take you out past St Mary's church and out of the town to the hills beyond. At its highest point you can enjoy far-reaching views across the West Dorset countryside to Lyme Regis and the sea.

Seatown Beach, Nr Chideock

A beautiful beach to explore and from here you can climb the coast path. It’s 2.5 miles back to Eype or if you are feeling brave you can take the path to Golden Cap – the highest point on the South West coast from here you can drop down to St Gabriel's – a ruined chapel with a magical feel to it.
