Ferndale House in Lynmouth dates back to the 19th century and has been beautifully renovated to provide sumptuous holiday accommodation whilst retaining many of its original features. Arranged on three levels, it has wooden floors, a vaulted ceiling with impressive 'A' frame oak beams and two balconies with views of the Lynmouth coastline and the valley rising towards Watersmeet. Stairs from the entrance hall on the ground floor lead up to the well-equipped kitchen (with breakfast bar and high stools) on the first floor.  French doors from the kitchen open out onto a balcony ideal for alfresco dining. Also on the first floor are two bedrooms and a shower room. The triple aspect master bedroom has a super king bed which can be converted to a twin on request and the twin bedded room has lovely sea views. On the second floor, the lounge/diner is a good size with comfortable seating, delightful woodburner and double French doors opening out onto a pretty balcony. An attractive double room with iron bedstead and a generous size bathroom with roll top bath and built in power shower cubicle are also on this floor.

The property is just a short walk away from the village centre with its pebble beach and wide variety of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Known as “Little Switzerland” Lynmouth, together with its sister village of Lynton above are accessed by foot, road, or the famous funicular railway.  The area is a walker’s paradise – if you’re feeling energetic, try the spectacular Watersmeet circuit, or for a unique coastal walk, follow the path from Lynton to the iconic Valley of Rocks, famous for its unusual geology and intrepid goats!

Ferndale House is ideally situated for walkers. Once in Lynmouth you needn't use your car for the week. Comfortable, warm and well equipped. There is a steep approach to the property and two flights of stairs within so less mobile people might struggle. This was my second visit to this property with my dog. I will certainly return to Ferndale HouseRead more. Hide

The house is really comfortable, with excellent views over Lynmouth. It is quite a steep path to get to the front door, but worth the effort!

Nice property but needs tidying up and some attention.(as above). The front door needs serious attention as it looks like someone could kick their way in easily.

Amazing location with fantastic views, right on the doorstep for all Lynmouth's activities. Liked the upside down layout to make the most of the views, especially from the top balcony. Great facilities with dish washer, washing machine etc. Ideal for families and pet friendly too. Just be aware of steep access to property for anyone with mobility Read moreissues and the carpark is near, but further down the road. Loved Lynmouth and Lynton, lots to do, great shops, pubs and eateries all on the doorstep, apart from groceries, which have to be purchased from Lynton or further afield. So just ensure you have the basics when you arrive as shop shuts at 7pm. Great transport links as bus park is across the road. Would recommend and hope to return. Hide
