Property code: OC-GARDC

The Garden Cottage in Saltdene is one of three cottages set in four and a half acres of meadow and woodland just a few steps away from a small bay called Newberry Beach, near Combe Martin. Sleeping 2 people and a dog, the cottage has a cosy open-plan living area with comfy seats and a well-equipped kitchen. This property is on different levels with steep stairs to upstairs area. A stone fireplace houses an electric effect woodburner and there is a dining table for two. Upstairs, the bedroom has a king-sized zip “n” link bed which has the option to create two singles on request and a lovely seating area near the window. Four steps lead up to a bathroom which has a free-standing roll top bath with a shower attachment. Outside, there is a coved decked patio area and a sloped garden. The meadow overlooks Combe Martin Bay and the village itself is just 300 metres from the cottage. The South West Coast Path runs right past the hamlet and the walks around this area boast stunning scenery. Combe Martin consists of one long street that is wedged into the valley and runs for roughly one and a half miles. At one end of Combe Martin you can be in the countryside a stone's throw from Exmoor, at the other end you could be sat on the beach staring out into the ocean. Sheltered from the elements, this sandy beach is very popular with families and locals. Most beaches in the UK can feel slightly detached from the village or town they are connected with, but not Combe Martin Beach. You can be sat on the beach, just a few yards away from the main high street, a unique experience, but that is not to say the beach will be a noisy, bustling environment.

Beautifully located, gorgeous cosy cottage, only a few yards from Newberry beach. The owners made us feel so welcome, with Lardy cake, beers and Prosecco, and we would highly recommend a stay here.

A cosy little cottage in a peaceful location within earshot of the sea. Well equipped little kitchen area and lounge downstairs. Upstairs the bedroom has a very comfortable bed, and down a few steps (mind your head!) is a bathroom, and also a very useful boot room with a back door leading to the small deck area. The welcome pack of lardy cake, milkRead more, Prosecco and lager was much appreciated. Make sure one dinner is from the chip shop - great chips! Great location for walking holidays, or rockpooling on the beach. Combe Martin is a sweet, old fashioned sort of seaside town, which even in August was not too busy. Hide

Great location near to the beach. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Good access to coastal paths and Exmoor which we enjoyed. The cottage is not spacious but has plenty of character. A tall person might find it difficult not to band their head at least once on the holiday with the low ceiling in places.
