Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town.

Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town , and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

This is the third or fourth time my family and I have stayed at the The Old Stables and every single one of them has been perfect. A very conveniently located property in the centre of Whitby with parking and ideal for 6 people. I'm sure it wont be the last time we stay here.

Nice little cottage in the centre of Whitby. Lovely bathrooms and bedrooms - shower is awesome after a chilly day; the living area and kitchen are a bit cramped but cosy - 6 people would not fit comfortably - was ok for us. No garden and a request to strip the beds after charging premium prices didnt sit well on our leaving day. Had a great time anRead mored its well kitted out but missing a few bits Id expect for the price we paid. Hide

This chalet bungalow needs a little TLC to make it more comfortable. Not over dog friendly. Dogs not allowed on leather settees or bedrooms. No secure outside space to let dog exercise. Would not bring dog to this property again. Excellent location for all amenities and the parking is a real bonus.

Lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Great location, pubs, cafes and restaurants all very close by. 5/10 minute walk to the Whale Bones. 10 minute walk to harbour front. Off road parking at cottage a great extra in an area where parking can be very difficult. Would book again.

This property is ideal in its central location, cleanliness and mostly satisfactory equipment and 2 parking spaces. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great. The downstairs is tight, the kitchen/dining/ living area is confined, you have to move the couch to use the dining chairs, move a dining chair to access the dishwasher and there isnt really much sRead morepace to bring in a childs buggy without blocking the narrow hall. There is lots to recommend in this house but l feel the unconventional check out time and instructions re stripping beds etc is a disadvantage especially since there werent any cleaners waiting to enter at 9.30. I would recommend for adults with teenagers rather than younger children. There wasnt an enclosed yard for the dog which l assumed there would be but theres plenty of places to walk a dog. Hide
