Hillside is a high quality detached house near Croyde, dating back to the 1860s, which has been extended and renovated by the owners to create a stunning holiday home. Sleeping ten people and one small dog, the house has plenty of space for the whole group to get together – or alternatively, for some members to enjoy some quiet time away from the rest of the party. The spacious living area has a beautiful woodburning stove set in a part exposed stone and brick alcove with a slate hearth, a dining table which is large enough to seat ten people, and a modern kitchen with white units and stone tiled floor. French doors open out onto the split level patio terrace which has great views and an outdoor table and chairs. The ground floor also has a  second lounge/snug which provides a quiet reading space, a wet room and a bedroom with a king-sized bed; whilst upstairs there are four more bedrooms – all with original wooden floors and two with en-suite shower rooms and a family bathroom with a roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. Outside, a well as the patio terrace at the side of the house, there is a lovely lawned area and a series of terraced hillside lawns.

Need extra space?...The Barn is a luxury newly built renovation sleeping 2, located next to Hillside. With its own parking and separate entrance, the Barn provides the perfect 'quiet' retreat away from the main house.

Hillside is a lovely property. The owners have seamlessly blended the old and new to create a spacious environment for 8-10 persons, ideal for family gatherings such as our own visit. It is where 'old country vicarage' meets 'designer kitchen'. The bathrooms are all modern, with the wet room very handy for surfers, walkers etc. The living and diRead morening space is well appointed with a large dining table and chairs, with the living room space containing a mixture of sofas and easy chairs. Ours was a winter stay and therefore we did not take advantage of the outdoor spaces but there is adequate patio space for all of your guests with outdoor furniture and BBQ space. NB. as the name implies, the rear of the property is terraced as it is on the side of a hill. The pictures in the advert for this property are very accurate. I would make people aware of the following. Access to the main entrance to the property is via 10 steps, you would still need to climb five steps if you were to take the long route around to the back door. Therefore, this might not be suitable for persons with different abilities. However, if this is not too challenging, then the good news is that one of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor, as is the wet room shower complete with wash hand basin and WC. If visiting in Winter, then the dual air source heat pumps keep the property lovely and warm with a mixture of radiators and underfloor heating. Each room has its own temperature control. We didn't touch these as they we set just right. Plenty of cooking equipment and more than ample numbers of crockery, glasses and silverware, so some can be in the dishwasher and there is still plenty more to use. Not all visitors might be like us, country dwellers. The short walk to the village is along a narrow road, some of this has no street lighting. Would recommend you bring a good torch, spare batteries and also at least one person in your group to wear a Hi-Viz vest. It really does help drivers see you. Can thoroughly recommend the Manor Inn for pub classics and Sunday Carvery or just for drinks and the big football matches if that's your thing. For something a little bit special, try the New Coast Kitchen. Brunch in the mornings and fine dining in the evening. Superb. Hillside was everything we were looking for to accommodate grandparents, parents and teenagers. Hide

Fantastic all round. We as a family felt it was perfect. We did a bit of walking and also visited places around us. The weather was great so spent time on the beach everyday. Thank you

Lovely cottage. Clean, well furnished and equipped. Parking for 3 cars on the drive if you park well. Very limited parking in close proximity if you have more cars. Lovely wild flower gardens mainly on a steep slope. Small flat area with table and chairs for outside dining.

Lovely cottage which suited our needs perfectly. Short walk to the centre of Croyde although anyone with your children needs to be mindful it is along the narrow road. The property has enough room for a family to stay giving privacy with 2 ensuite and 2 bathrooms. Can't wait to return.
