Lealholm: Lealholm is a small village near Glaisdale and Danby on a crossing point of the River Esk, in the North York Moors National Park. It is under 10 miles by road from the nearest town of Whitby, and approximately 27 miles from both Middlesbrough and Scarborough. The village is typical of those found all across the North York Moors, being mostly built of local stone with pan tiled or slate roofs.
Lealholm is on the route of the Esk valley railway line, which runs from Whitby to Middlesbrough, and is served by Lealholm railway station. The Board Inn is the local village inn and the Shepherd's Hall provides meals, teas and a craft shop. There is a famous set of stepping stones in the village which cross the River Esk.
