We have just spent a really enjoyable Easter weekend at this accommodation. Eight adults, one baby and one small dog. It's in a good location, however you do need a car. We had a delivery from a local chinese takeaway and I saw other guests have grocery deliveries. On arrival we went to the restaurant as we were a little early and it's lovely. Read more We only had drinks but the staff were all very pleasant and it's very clean and welcoming. We used the swimming pool and visited the beach area and had pizzas, drinks and ice creams. All very nice. The property itself is a little tired. As others have written there is a big industrial metal fence behind the properties which isn't that nice to look out on. The hot tub had a broken vent and was very foamy. The outside light didn't work so If you had sat out at night it was in complete darkness. We also had mice running past the patio doors on a daily basis. Within five minutes of being in the property one of the fire extinguisher fell off the wall on the top floor and as we sat on one of the chairs around the table it collapsed. The toaster had seen better days and would only toast one side of the bread. The bedrooms were very comfortable but the twin room with the bath tub would only run hot water so not great when trying to bath a baby. We were handed the key by the cleaners on arrival and didn't use the key safe until we left but this was also broken and wouldn't unlock. The accommodation was fairly clean on arrival but could have been better. I took cleaning sprays with me as I had already read many reviews saying it wasn't that clean. Having said all this we did have a lovely weekend but the property could be really lovely with a bit of TLC and a freshen up of the paint. Which when you pay the price that we did for Easter weekend you do expect a higher standard. So I would definitely say this is more of a 3.5 rating and not a 5. Hide

Fantastic property, very well equipped, very well presented and clean, the ability to make a coffee and have a scone on arrival, might seem like a little thing to some, it was very welcomed and thoughtful.

We had a fabulous stay. The property hadnt been cleaned by the time we got there at just after 4pm however a quick phone call and an hour or 2 later the property was in good shape and no harm done. Hot tub was perfect and bedrooms very spacious. Location meant we could venture out everyday with a new place to visit. We have just come back from a weeks holiday at Halcyon Days at Retallack resort, Cornwall. This holiday, resort and accommodation has so much potential to be a 5 star break, but unfortunately some issues let it down. Outside The initial walk out the back to see the very large eyesore of a large metal Heras industrial fencing all around the Read moreponds. No explanations as to why. The hot tub was stone cold - We called the helpline to see if they knew if there was an issue with it and despite being promised a call back no-one did. It did however warm up after 24 hours but disappointing that nobody bothered to call us back. Many tall weeds growing all along the inside of the patio fence - very unkempt looking - and a couple of uneven wobbly slabs by the gate. Bag of rubbish left on the patio from the previous occupants, containing drinks cans, old BBQ food and general rubbish. Patio table has mossy green all around the edge and the cushions are not clean. The BBQ itself was filthy, charred food remains all over the grill. Inside 1st floor balcony Dirty, mouldy storage bag under chair 2nd floor Balcony; Patio chair seats filthy and covered in bird poo and moss. Table dirty with dirty ashtray that hadnt been cleaned. Bedroom; The double bed was actually 2 pushed together single beds. One mattres was significantly softer than the other making the bed very uneven. Indoors: Dining table sticky and dirty and covered in food crumbs and residue. Rug under coffee table has a big stain on it. Games and puzzles have seen better days, with broken boxes and pieces missing. Curtains quite grubby. Cobwebs in corners of ceilings. Kitchen. Very well equipped. But no corkscrew Welcome pack - nothing supplied (although previous reviews have mentioned nice welcome packs). Given the luxury style accommodation and price. A small welcome pack of tea bags/milk/sugar/bread/washing up liquid, a couple of dishwasher tablets is normally the bare minimum. Leaving Was instructed to leave bedding in the orange bags - no orange bags to be found anywhere. All in all this place could be amazing - its spacious and in a great location - but the lack of cleanliness just isnt good enough. Hide

We arrived to find the property had not been cleaned, we were offered to be put up in a hotel for the night but with two dogs was not an option. Waited until gone 10.00pm until cleaners eventually arrived. The property was comfortable and had all you could ask kitchen wise (look out for the secret cutlery drawer)! The properties where too close toRead moregether and unfortunately there was much noise from others looking to party, we didn't have the relaxing, peaceful stay we hoped for. The view from the property was obscured by a huge metal fence, apparently erected by the local farmer. Hide

We had a lovely holiday at Halcyon Days property. The bedrooms and beds were extremely comfortable, the showers were perfect and cleaned well. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. We did bring additional washing machine/dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid/disinfectant spray, toilet gel, bleach and spray as we used these everRead moreyday. We couldnt make the dryer work but used these hanging rail on the balcony instead. The jacuzzi was fab and really enjoyed it. There were board games at the property to keep everyone entertained, which was a bonus. We booked this property because it had access to the Retallack Resorts indoor swimming pools free of charge (just got to call the resort and pre-book slots) with access to gym, sauna and steam room. We didnt use the gym but the sauna wasnt working when we got there which was a shame. Theres also entertainment that included at Retallack when booking this property for children and adults also a small playground/game room at the resort. The restaurant is terrible (the service was bad and it took 1.5 hours to get our food.) so remember to do a shop at the supermarket or have it scheduled for delivery to the property prior to coming. We regretted not doing this because everything was far away and we couldnt get food delivery. Negatives: We had some minor hiccups at the property as the kettle was old, the barbecue wasnt cleaned, the property is dog friendly so it didnt match my cleanliness standards and vacuum wasnt usable but aside from that we had a lovely stay. Rate 4/5 in spite of the negatives as we enjoyed our stay. Hide

A stunning home perfect for a lads holiday, with four extremely comfortable bedrooms complete with clean and cosy ensuite bathrooms (one of which included a jacuzzi bathtub which I personally and wholeheartedly recommend), a modern spacious kitchen, comfortable living/dining room space, and a relaxing porch for evening meals outside and a heavenly Read morehot tub, complete with a sweet view of the lake. We booked this house which looked ideal for our family holiday use. The site and location are superb for a family beach recreation getaway. SADLY the property Halcyon Days was certainly not as expected for the cost of the weeks rental. The property once we actually got inside .. (cleaners were late and very poor) was filthy Dogs hair dust cobRead morewebs everywhere and absolutely no cleaning agents available. We went to the site shop bought bleach bin bags and cloths. Spent our first hour cleaning ! When we went to use the jacuzzi the patio slabs around it were loose very dangerous. The BBQ had been used and left with food in it Each balcony its furniture needed cleaning as did the patio furniture. We were contacted a few days before departure explaining the lakeside view and access was fenced off. No reason or explanation offered even after asking ? We still have no idea ? The grass area outside the patio area wasnt cut as nothing can get in due to the Harris fencing ! As a family away celebrating a significant birthday we were desperately disappointed with the state of what should be a great house for vacation. It is neglected and in need of serious renovation especially in the communal areas. Id recommend the site there are plenty of other houses lodges but avoid Halcyon Days until the faults are put right. Hide
