Property code: OC-MEADOW

Meadowside Barn is situated down a country lane surrounded by its own large lawned garden, about six miles from the pretty village of South Molton. Beautifully renovated by the owners, it offers spacious accommodation with masses of charm and character for four people and three dogs. The open plan living and kitchen area has a solid oak floor, a stunning floor to ceiling window/patio door which opens out on the patio and a large woodburner for cooler times of the year. There is a white Shaker-style kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Between the kitchen and the living room, there is a modern glass dining table and chairs – perfect for tucking into a home-cooked meal. An open oak staircase takes you up to the first floor which has vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Both of the bedrooms have built-in oak wardrobes and overlook the garden and the countryside beyond. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room whilst the twin bedded room has the use of the bathroom with a luxury spa bath and shower over it. Outside, the large garden is mainly laid to lawn and overlooks the surrounding countryside.

There is a footpath which runs past Meadowside Barn’s front door – great for walkers or whoever is in charge of walking the dogs. A short drive will take you to Exmoor National Park which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1000 different flowering plants and grasses. South Molton is the nearest village to the cottage and is a very typical Devon market village. A bustling place with an indoor Pannier Market on Saturday (selling fish, meat, cheese, books, bric-a-brac and more) and a cattle market on Thursday. It has a few attractions of its own to enjoy, not least a rather special resident chocolatier.

Absolutely beautiful barn conversion set away from main roads and so quiet the only thing you can hear is bird song. Lovely welcome tea and friendly owners. Fantastic for dog owners as well as the garden if large and quiet. Only point is the stairs are quite steep so not the best if you have disabilities. Otherwise wonderful place.

Wow, this cottage is a real gem, away from it all with comfy beds and easy to find with only a few little roads to get there. The view from the property is great, seeing many birds and the property is very well equipped. Really friendly owners and good welcome pack, I have stayed in many cottages and this is one of the best.

We had a lovely break in this hidden gem of a cottage even the rain didn't spoil our holiday as we took a gazebo with us so we could sit outside in the rain and enjoy the wonderful garden and views. We have booked to go back in September.
