Catkin is a lovely, warm cottage, and its a great base to explore the surrounding area. Asher my dog was made to feel very welcome, and had his own dedicated basket of treats and bits on arrival. Staithes is an adorable harbour village, with great places to eat. Be aware there is no parking down in the village itself, and there is quite a steep hilRead morel to negotiate. The Cleveland Way runs along the coast to the north and south, and provides spectacular views from some (very) high clifftops. I would suggest keeping any dogs firmly on a lead! The only downer was the large polyhalite mine site just to the north, which was a bit of a surprise. However, it became apparent during the week that the area has known many decades of mining of different types, and this added to a sense of heritage and culture. On balance, loved the accommodation, and I plan to return. Hide

This is a perfect little cottage in a really quiet area with all the amenities that you would need. The owners are very nice and helpful. Staithes is just a couple miles away and the walk to the village is nice and easy (not muddy at all). We had a lovely time there. I recommend that you give it a try.

We had a lovely stay in Catkin Cottage, and the owners are very welcoming. It's a comfortable, warm and well-equipped cottage with great views and a big paddock to exercise a pet. Our only tip would be to approach it from the Staithes end of Ridge Lane, as the other direction is a long single track lane with abundant and occasionally suicidal wildlRead moreife. The cottage is in a great location for access to beautiful beaches along the coast all a few minutes drive away. The 3-4 cottages are tightly packed together around the shared games room, and adjacent to the owners property on a very quiet long narrow single track road. The setting feels remote but not private. The meadow opposite is lovely, and thRead moreere are plenty of footpaths to explore.
