Southwold is a quintessentially British seaside town located on the stunning Suffolk coastline; famous for its iconic beach huts, towering lighthouse and Adnams brewery. The town is surrounded by water making it almost an island, with one road in and out; it is joined to Walberswick only by an old railway bridge, suitable for walkers and cyclists, which adds to the charm of this historic fishing town. There is a thriving community which keeps the town running; there are markets, craft fairs, street fairs and carnivals held throughout the year, celebrating both the history of the town and the local spirit. The 1600s were a historic era for Southwold; in 1634 the butchers, which still trades today, first opened its doors; in 1659 was the great fire of Southwold which saw much of the town burn to the ground and is the reason the town has its famous ‘Greens’; and 1672 saw the Battle of Solebay, in which both the English and Dutch claimed victory and is celebrated through local anniversary ales and spirits. With dog friendly pubs, footpaths to neighbouring villages, sandy beach, fish and chip shops, three convenience stores, fresh fish from the harbour, crazy golf, an array of restaurants, a brewery and a distillery, you will have plenty to enjoy when you visit this exciting and famous seaside town; just watch out for the seagulls pinching your chips!

Cottage was very warm, clean and comfortable, which we greatly appreciated, as we had to be relocated due to no central heating or hot water in original accommodation. Location was perfect and having parking on street was huge bonus. We ended up with more space including a nice garden, which our dog enjoyed. Had a lovely stay and would definitely rRead moreeturn. We love Southwold and the location of this property is perfect for the beach and exploring the town. Unfortunately we had some issues with cleanliness when we checked in and a partial re-clean was required. Property has a garden and BBQ advertised but unfortunately when we arrived neither was useable, we had to mow the lawn ourselves so the childreRead moren could play and clean up part of a dead bird, we also cleaned the garden furniture so it could be used however the BBQ was beyond help, very dirty and without a tray to catch any ash, so we were unable to use it. Beds comfortable and linen and towels clean, but some small improvements needed to make it a really enjoyable place to stay. Hide
