Wells-next-the-Sea is a popular town on the Norfolk Coast. The picturesque harbour and estuary are a continuous hub of activity and a photographer’s dream location. With fresh fish, lobsters, crabs and shellfish landed every day, it is easy to see why so many visitors enjoy fish and chips on the Quay; it is practically a Wells ritual! Take a stroll to the beach along the harbour footpath or hop aboard the narrow-gauge steam railway, where you are rewarded with views of colourful beach huts decorating the vast sands elevated against a woodland backdrop. From Buttlands Green to the Quay, you can search out plenty of local pubs and restaurants, delicatessens, butchers, fishmongers, boutique shops, cycle hire, and you can even take a llama for a guided walk. The unspoiled coastal scenery surrounding Wells-next-the-Sea is a haven for walkers, cyclists, bird/wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, sailors and anglers and seafarers young and old will delight in taking a seal trip run from the harbour. There is also much to explore beyond. A 5-minute drive away is Holkham Hall, seat of the Earl of Leicester, which has a stunning house and deer park to visit, and which also hosts numerous events throughout the year. Holkham beach can be reached along the shoreline from Wells-next-the-Sea, as well as by road and is the chosen beach of the Household Cavalry who can be seen galloping along whilst taking a well-earned break in the summer. Other delights nearby are Burnham Market and its sister villages, Brancaster, Blakeney, Cley-next-the-Sea and the Georgian town of Holt to name just a few. The area is bursting to the brim with places to visit and things to see, we think it will capture your heart.
