A truly unique and secluded stone farm cottage, set in a completely out-of-the-way location, in the hills 10 miles north of Dolgellau (about a 30-minute drive into the town). On a working sheep farm of 700 acres, this cottage is in a superb location in the Snowdonia National Park with wonderful scenery, excellent walking from the door, mountain biking trails and waterfalls. The cottage is carbon neutral with electricity from a water turbine and heating from a ground source heat pump.
'The nearby Coed y Brenin forest park has superb singletrack mountain bike trails for all abilities, family walking trails, play areas, orienteering trails, a bike hire shop and good cafe.
The Cottage: has been sympathetically renovated and retains many original features. Plentiful parking. The owners leave a good welcome pack to start you off as there is no ’popping out’ to the shops from here!
Sitting Room: this cosy beamed room has large wood burning stove in the traditional inglenook fireplace (logs provided), comfortable leather sofas, easy chair, Sky digibox TV, DVD player, CD player and WiFi. Some films, books and games are supplied for guests and pay phone available. A stable door leads from the sitting room to the conservatory
Conservatory: with superb views, slate floors and comfortable furniture.
Kitchen Diner: this spacious room has a tiled floor with a wooden dining table and chairs. The fitted kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and electric cooker. It is well equipped with everything you need to cater for yourselves should you wish.
On the first floor are three beamed bedrooms
Bedroom 1: a lovely double with TV/DVD and an en suite shower room with WC and basin.
Bedroom 2: a twin room with plenty of storage space.
Bedroom 3: another double room with plenty of storage space.
Bathroom: is tiled, with a bath with a hand shower attachment, WC and basin.
Outside: the cottage has a slate patio with picnic tables and brick barbecue, in fenced and gated grounds. Stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the back garden. There is a garden bench at the front to take advantage of the countryside views. Use of barn for mountain bike storage, etc.
The location of this cottage is very special in a little-known area of the Snowdonia National Park. Once here you may find you don't want to move much, just exploring what is on your doorstep. Should you decide to venture out the nearest town of Dolgellau is a traditional market town and has a good selection of shops, cafes and pubs. An amazing drive over a remote mountain road takes you to the town and lake at Bala for water sports and boat hire on Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and the little steam Railway at Llanuwchlyn. There are a network of paths and bridleways to explore and quiet roads for cyclists. For mountain bikers you are located close the trail centre at the Coed Y Brenin, which also has a good cafe, forest walking trails, orienteering courses and a good children's play area and discovery trails. The family bike trail at Traswsfynydd is also a short drive away. Day trips could be taken to the nearest beach resorts at Porthmadog and Harlech and the Italianate village at Portmeirion,
