This lovely, converted farm building is ideal for a couple wishing to relax and explore the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Moments away from the river, this is a truly unique and idyllic location, where you can enjoy scenic strolls along the river, birdwatching, and a spot of seal-spotting! The property is situated in Iken; a small village in a peaceful, rural setting within the Suffolk countryside but just a short drive from the coast. For those wanting to experience the charm and atmosphere of a typical Suffolk coastal town, Snape, less than 2 miles away is a must-see community. The town is home to the Snape Maltings, an intricate network of beautiful brick buildings housing independent shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants. The town is perhaps most famous for its vibrant arts centre; the Maltings which is home to the Aldeburgh Festival of Music, founded by the composer Benjamin Britten. The month-long summer festival still runs today where music lovers can enjoy a wealth of music from classical to jazz. Alternatively, if you fancy a trip to the coast, the seaside resort of Aldeburgh is just 3 miles away. This charming seaside town has a picturesque promenade, lined with pastel-coloured buildings taking you down to the pebble beach with fisherman’s huts selling the daily catch. Keen walkers are also well catered for with several walking routes within easy reach of the property, including a scenic circular walk from the doorstep which follows the river round to Snape Maltings, passing historic Iken Church.

Set all on one level, this beautifully converted holiday cottage provides spacious and well-appointed accommodation perfect for a couple to enjoy. The exposed brickwork and ceiling timbers in the lounge give a real feeling of country-cottage charm whilst the comfortable soft furnishings are perfect to cosy up on whilst you watch a spot of TV or a film together after a day of exploring. The sizable kitchen has everything you will need to prepare a romantic meal for two which can be enjoyed together at the dining table. You’ll also find a double bedroom with exposed beams, a wrought iron bed, and views over the garden. Finally, a bright and sunny bathroom completes the property.

Outside, guests have access to their own patio area with garden furniture to enjoy and beyond this there are shared gardens which lead down to the river. Shop: 2 miles Pub: 2 miles.

Iken is a reputed base of Boudica and the marauding Iceni tribes who made good use of the commanding position on the south side of the Alde Estuary. Later, in 869AD, a Viking sailing fleet destroyed the 7th Century monastery at Iken. In the 19th Century sailing barges used the river to trade corn and coal between Snape, London and the east coast ports. Now, you will see the occasional pleasure boat whilst taking in the highly regarded SSSI wildlife habitat and the stunning estuary scenery. Views span from the 7th Century St Butolphs Church, standing on a promontory of higher ground, to the former maltings at Snape which are now vibrant with the sounds of the famous concert hall.

Nice peaceful setting and lovely walk along the water to Snape. The cottage and surrounding buildings would benefit from a major review to make more presentable
