Property code: OC-ORANGE

The Orangery provides a very spacious first floor apartment (some internal steps) located in the East Wing of a former Gentleman's residence built in 1815. The building more recently operated as the locally renowned Lynton Cottage Hotel until converted into 10 apartments in 2017.  The Orangery has been designed and refurbished to a very good standard and takes advantage of its unique cliff top position to offer the most spectacular, panoramic sea views, whilst also retaining much of the original character of this 200-year old historic Grade II listed building. This lovely accommodation is located on the South West Coastal Path, and is less than 5 minutes' walk from the village amenities of Lynton. A ride on the nearby Cliff Railway allows easy access to the picturesque twin coastal village of Lynmouth with its picturesque harbour, Manor greens and rock and shingle beach.  Coastal, riverside and country walks are all easily accessible and there are some famous beauty spots such as the Valley of the Rocks and Watersmeet all within a short drive or exhilarating walk.  The Orangery has its own private entrance at the side of the building leading into a very spacious open plan living area.  With a high apex ceiling, a large Victorian skylight, country style open plan kitchen and a dining area.  The master bedroom at the front has a beautiful carved wooden bed, its own balcony offering magnificent sea views and an ensuite bathroom, with power shower. A further twin room that can be converted to a superking on request also has lovely sea views. For flexible sleeping, a high-quality day bed is provided in an additional lounge area(giving access to the bedrooms) This can therefore provide an ideal base for couples, families or friends wishing to holiday together. A private pebbled patio can be found to the side of the building and is an ideal place to relax and enjoy alfresco meals whilst taking in the special views.

Accommodation: Steps to private entrance on First floor: Open plan living/dining room with  48" Smart TV, DAB radio, large dining suite and bay window area with sea views. Kitchen area with electric range cooker(5 hobs, hotplate 2 ovens and grill), microwave, fridge,/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.  Steps down to  additional  lounge with day bed ideal for alternative sleeping. This apartment is as advertised. The views are amazing and it has all the equipment you need. A new modern kitchen, with plenty of storage lots of worktop space, and everything you need. It is on a hill and quite a steep short hill to walk up to the town. Lynton is built on a hill, a lovely place to visit with lots of independent shops and eatingRead more places. Definitely recommend a walk to The Valley of the Rocks along the coastal path if your able. This was our first time here, but will be back. Lots of places within easy reach for days out in the car. Very comfortable apartment with good facilities. This is a great location, with easy walking into Lynton, a steep walk down to Lynmouth (or you can take the Cliff Railway!). We had lovely walks from the property on the Coast Path and further inland such as Lynmouth to Watersmeet and Watersmeet to Rockford.

This delightful little apartment/cottage in the heart of Lynton is peaceful and secluded with spectacular views over Lynmouth and Countisbury Head. Light bright and airy with all the self catering facilities one could need to make this a cosy and comfortable holiday home from home. The furniture, fixtures and fittings were of a high standard and weRead more all fought to sit and snooze in the observatory area of the lounge on the ekornes reclining chair. The weather along the north coast of Devon can be changeable and moody and we enjoyed looking at the headland view every day. Sometimes the sea was bright blue. Sometimes the headland wore a white cap of low cloud, one day it was crowned with a rainbow. On a sunny sunset evening all the colours of the grass, ferns, heather and rock popped in a golden glow. The location was right on the edge of town literally just off the high street and yet it was so lovely and peaceful we heard woodpeckers in the trees as well as other birdsong and even an owl calling at night. On a rainy day we stayed in for the afternoon and it was just such a lovely place to chill, unwind and relax. We had a very special week in Lynton and enjoyed walks and trips within easy distance to The Valley of Rocks, Heddons Mouth, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Barnstaple, Countisbury Head, Doone Valley and Dunkery Beacon. The little town of Lynton is lovely to walk around with souvenir shops, cafes, pubs and art galleries. This little gem is great value for money and will add to your holiday experience in this unspoilt part of the world. Hide

We had a lovely stay at The Orangery and would certainly stay again. Usually photos make holiday accommodation look larger than they are but not with this property, the rooms were spacious, especially the lounge/kitchen area. The lounge furniture was comfortable and there was also a comfortable reclining chair in the add on room to the lounge with Read moreviews out to sea. The weather was generally overcast during our stay but we still enjoyed sitting on the small balcony with spectacular views to Lynmouth and the coast. We couldn't open the balcony door from the bedroom (perhaps swollen due to weather) but it can be accessed from the outside. If you turn right down the road from the property you can view the cliff railway going up and down from Lynmouth and if you carry on down the road there is a lovely walk along the Valley of the Rocks. Also shortly down this road you can turn right by a sign for the Fairholme Hotel and down a steep footpath to Lynmouth. We did this a couple of times and got the cliff railway back up.
