  • A stunning light-filled barn conversion near the North Cornwall coast
  • Featuring glorious far-reaching views over the beautiful Camel Estuary
  • With wooden beams in the vaulted ceiling, oak furniture and a children’s play area
Property code: OC-P00421

Imagine relaxing with a cup of tea (or something stronger), the children are entertaining themselves on the outdoor play equipment, and you are enjoying the glorious, far reaching view over farmland to the Camel Estuary. Welcome to The Dreyhouse!  The view from the rear patio area is just as described and in the garden there is a climbing frame, swing and slide (with rubber matting beneath) for the younger members of your party to enjoy.  The Dreyhouse is furnished to a high standard, with lots of chunky oak furniture, and high beamed ceilings, slate floors and light-filled rooms lend a wonderful feeling of spaciousness.  The open plan kitchen/dining/living area is perfect for a sociable holiday with family and friends.

This peaceful retreat at Higher Halwyn is tucked right away from it all but a 10-15 minute drive will take you to Padstow, Wadebridge and several golden sandy beaches.  It stands on the edge of a small hamlet found along a quiet farm lane leading down to the Camel estuary and in the other direction to the village of St. Issey and two public houses.  The Camel Trail, just down the lane, follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers and cyclists (bikes may be hired at Padstow or Wadebridge).  The path wends its way alongside the river bank through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant wildlife and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of an otter or a porpoise.  The Trail provides a level 2 mile walk to Padstow or 3 mile walk to Wadebridge - ideal for working up an appetite and a good excuse to sample the fine food on offer in either town. Golfers too will love the opportunity of visiting St. Enodoc or Trevose, both of which are a short drive from the house and the estuary is host to a number of watersports.

We have been coming to the Dreyhouse intermittently ever since it first became available some 17 years ago. It never fails to impress or satisfy in every way; excellently equipped, comfortable, great view and easy access to local areas despite being off the beaten track. It is perfect for walkers or cyclists yet allows opportunities to visit elseRead morewhere in Cornwall without trouble. Hide

This is a well presented, well equipped and comfortable cottage. We have stayed in the adjacent conversion on 2 occasions in the past and The Dreyhouse did not disappoint. Highly recommend this property.

Fabulous week spent at The Dreyhouse, great location close enough to everything but also far enough away for some peace. Stunning view with a large and secure garden for the dog to run around in. The house itself is very well equipped and comfortable, the kitchen especially had everything we needed. It got quite warm in the house at times but thereRead more are ample fans provided and the patio doors open wide to let air in. Great week spent and we would highly recommend. Hide

Lovely view from the property, a quiet location and well-equipped with quality crockery and cooking utensils, including knives that worked. We appreciated the items (such as milk) which were provided.
