Little Doric is a pretty cottage situated along a private lane in the centre of the historic market town of Woodbridge. The property is comfortably furnished and is an ideal bolt hole for anyone wishing to get away from it all but still be able to easily access all that the riverside town of Woodbridge has to offer.

Couples can expect a peaceful retreat in this cosy cottage that’s a lovely base for exploring Suffolk’s pretty towns and scenic coastline, starting with Woodbridge where it is centrally located. Meander the picturesque streets, stopping at independent shops, art galleries, restaurants and pubs. Visit the historic Tide Mill on the River Deben and the yacht harbour where you can watch the charming boats bob in the water. Nature lovers will relish a stroll by the town’s river or a trip to Aldeburgh (18 miles) where there’s a shingle beach to enjoy, as well as a lovely town with Georgian buildings. Watch for Aldeburgh’s local fishermen selling their daily catches and maybe take some back with you.

As you approach this cottage, you’ll notice its classic prettiness - which continues inside. The cosy sitting room exudes classic style with its gas fire in a brick fireplace and traditional accessories. For entertainment, there’s a TV, DVD player and CD player. A dining area also sits within this room, featuring a table and four chairs, and the ground floor is completed by a well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower over a bath that’s great for soaking. The steep staircase (which is open on one side and has handrails and shallow treads) leads from the sitting room to the first floor, where there’s a cosy and characterful double bedroom with plenty of storage.

Outside, the charming, enclosed courtyard garden boasts a table and chairs you can enjoy a meal or a drink outside on warmer days.

The cottage was beautifully clean when I arrived. I especially appreciated the shelves full of DVDs and the maps provided. The position of the cottage is perfect for exploring Woodbridge on foot.

What a wonderful stay in Little Doric. Perfectly situated on a private lane in the center of town. It was quiet, comfortable and well equipped. Such a fabulous hideaway in one of the most beautiful places - Woodbridge Town and glorious Suffolk. Chuck Dalldorf, author of Notes From The Green Man

A lovely cottage in a great location. It provided everything I needed for a quiet, relaxing break in beautiful Suffolk. Despite the cold weather, the cottage was warm without the need for supplementary heating.

A pleasant, comfortable, small cottage ideally situated in the centre of Woodbridge. The stairs may be little steep for some but otherwise we found the cottage to be ideal and even managed to make use of the small enclosed garden during our stay in October. The only downside is the lack of a designated parking space so had to park in the station caRead morer park for most of the week. Hide

Quiet, clean and extremely well equipped cottage. The location is absolutely brilliant with all the shops a few minutes walk away and the railway station around the same distance away, providing easy access to Felixstowe, Ipswich, Saxmundham etc.

It is an idea holiday escape for a single person or couple, wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. One wishes the walls could talk. You can imagine Read morea cottage like this in a Dickens novel. I would definitely recommend Little Doric for a holiday rental, and recommend Woodbridge as a lovely holiday location. Woodbridge is small but has many delights, including an estuary harbour, lovely shops and restaurants, a museum, beautiful church overlooking the town, and sweet pastel-painted clapper-board houses. It also has a leisure centre which is open early and closes late - a very valuable service. Hide
