Three Halfway Houses is a delightful 'railway cottage', Originally there was one house called Halfway House and the powers that be decided to build the railway very close to the house, so as compensation they built the three cottages (Halfway Houses) and gave them to the owner of Halfway House! In the village of Garsdale (5 miles away) there are some identical railway cottages. Although the railway still operates from Garsdale it closed here many years ago.

This property is a cosy, two bed-roomed cottage just half a mile from Hawes centre, It boasts an excellently equipped kitchen/dining and beautiful rooms throughout. The cottage is in a wonderful location with amazing views from every window. It is an easy 10 minute walk to local shops and pubs etc in Hawes. Inside the rooms are cosy and comfortably equipped. Not exactly a negative but because the cottage is old, the ground floor is not on one level and the stairs while quite short are nevertheless also quitRead moree steep. Possibly a factor for someone with mobility issues. The steps/stairs are helpfully mentioned in the cottage information on the website. All in all a wonderful cottage break in a beautiful location. Great cottage with everything we needed. Extremely comfortable, loved the bedding and home comforts. Lots of walks right from the door as well as nearby. We went to sheepdog demo organised from the Green Dragon Inn, which we really enjoyed.

Very well equipped including decent knives. Good quality towels and linen. Easy parking right outside. Incredible views from the cottage especially from bedroom window. Nicely located just outside Hawes which itself is delightful. Only criticism - steep staircase possibly not great for anyone with mobility issues.
