For a unique coastal walk, follow the path from Lynton to the iconic Valley of Rocks, famous for its unusual geology and intrepid goats. Take a trip on the water-powered funicular cliff train to visit Lynton. Head inland for Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild native ponies, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor. A short drive west takes you to Ilfracombe, which has many attractions including the harbour, with Damien Hirst’s infamous bronze statue Verity
