Property code: OC-SUMMER

Summerville is a 19th century stone and red brick terraced cottage sat above the East Lyn river surrounded by stunning countryside. The considerately restored home is approached over a delightful cottage garden with a driftwood path. A wide hall leads into a roomy and eye-catching dual aspect lounge with a bay window and woodburner. The well equipped double aspect kitchen/diner has rustic style oak units and a limestone tile floor. The back door leads on to a courtyard. On the first floor, there are three stylish bedrooms all served by a bathroom and cloakroom. The main double room and a twin both have views stunning over the river. The best place for an evening glass of wine while the sun sets is the paved front garden, where you can hear the river babbling past.

The pretty village of Lynmouth sits at sea level, following the River Lyn down to the sea, while Lynton sits higher in the trees, full of quaint narrow lanes and independent shops to explore. Often known as Little Switzerland, the area is a walkers' paradise. For a unique coastal walk, follow the path from Lynton to the iconic Valley of Rocks, famous for its unusual geology and intrepid goats. Take a trip on the water-powered funicular cliff train to visit Lynton. Head inland for Exmoor National Park, which has Europe’s very first International Dark Sky Reserve, the tallest tree in England, the highest cliffs in England, almost 250 species of bird and over 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses, the highest number of wild red deer in England and wild native ponies, perfectly adapted to the upland conditions of Exmoor. A short drive west takes you to Ilfracombe, which has many attractions including the harbour, with Damien Hirst’s infamous bronze statue Verity

A welcoming, comfortable and warm cottage located on a quiet road but close to the town, it has a well appointed kitchen with a dining table that will sit 6 comfortably. the living room is spacious and light and there is a pretty courtyard garden with 2 caf style tables at the front. Parking is easy enough once you get the hang of the permit systemRead more, a digital permit would have been better than having to write a permit voucher each day before noon. Hide

A beautiful and comfortable cottage that feels homely. The cottage was clean throughout and smelt fresh upon arrival. Great location, having a parking permit made parking much easier in such a busy village. Would highly recommend this cottage, second time we have stayed and would certainly return.

Well equipped cottage in a great location. Parking outside was OK when we needed it but isn't reserved so would recommend buying a 7 day permit from the council in High season which allows parking just across the bridge and in lots of other car parks.

Had a lovely stay at Summerville, thank you for the lovely cake and milk very much appreciated after a long journey. The property was lovely and quiet, very clean and spacious. The only negative we found was the overgrown trees in the front garden that made inside dark, and made it unable to have the evening sitting out. This has been raised to Read morethe housekeeper who has said she will speak with the owners. We would return to Summerville in future with no hesitation. Hide

This is a comfortable cottage in a lovely location, but the garden needs to be sorted out to let in some much needed light.
