A rural hideaway in the village of Westbury, this converted barn is an ideal base for couples or families looking to combine leisurely countryside walks with memorable cultural days out. Shrewsbury is around 8 miles away, known for its black and white timber-framed buildings and red sandstone castle. As well as exploring the town’s fascinating history, you can also browse shops, go for a stroll along the banks of the River Severn, and enjoy a picnic in The Quarry, a much-loved park with tree-lined walkways and colourful flower gardens. To the east of Shrewsbury, Wroxeter Roman City (15 miles) features the remains of a public bathhouse and giant Roman-themed games you can play. You’re also not far from the Welsh Borders and Powis Castle (15.5 miles), with its amazing landscaped grounds and Asian artefacts collection.
All on one level, the cottage is designed for convenience, and you’ll step straight into a bright and airy open-plan living area where you can spend time relaxing together. Along one side of the room is a kitchen area where you’ll be able to prepare delicious meals to enjoy around the dining table, which seats four guests. When you want to get comfortable, pop the kettle on and retire to the lounge area to curl up with a mug of hot coffee while watching a show on the Smart TV. Leading off the main living space are two bedrooms. The spacious double is tucked beneath exposed beams that add a touch of rustic charm, while the twin room is ideal for children or two adults sharing. Completing the layout is a shower room with a large walk-in shower, heated towel rail, and WC.
Outside, the garden has plenty of space to unwind, with a lawn and patio area furnished for outdoor dining or relaxing with a drink on a sunny day. It also features a private hot tub, which is covered so you can toast the lovely countryside views come rain or shine. Private parking is available for two cars. For an added touch during your stay, the on-site bar can be opened on request and is generally available to guests upon demand.
