Head to the local railway station (1 mile) and take a train to Whitby (4.5 miles), an atmospheric seaside town at the mouth of the River Esk. It has a picturesque harbour, iconic swing bridge, sandy beaches and independent shops tucked along winding streets and hidden alleys. You can also climb the famous 199 steps to Whitby Abbey’s clifftop ruins for sweeping North Sea views. Goathland (5 miles), known to Heartbeat fans as Aidensfield, charms with its preserved railway station. For another day out, explore the Mulgrave Castle Estate (8 miles).
Inside, the ground floor brings cooking, dining and relaxing together in one sociable, open-plan room, which has comfy seating for resting after busy days out by the sea. The recently refurbished kitchen occupies a corner of the space, and there’s a four-seater dining table for leisurely meals and planning tomorrow’s adventures. You’ll also find the bathroom on this level, with a bath/shower and WC. Stairs rise directly from the main living space to the first floor, where you’ll find two bedrooms: one with a super-king-size bed and another with twin 2’6” small single zip-and-link beds which can be made up as a king-size on request.
Outside, the private rear garden combines grassy areas with shrubs and trees – a pleasant setting for sipping a rejuvenating coffee from the machine. Settle at the garden furniture with breakfast or take your lunch outdoors when the weather plays along. Private parking accommodates two cars. Please note that a neighbour has a right of way across the shared path.
