This charming townhouse sits high above the heart of the seaside village of Aberdovey, where the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park meet the sea – just 4 miles from the town of Tywyn. This pretty village has a thriving harbour, pubs, cafés, restaurants, galleries and independent shops to explore. Sleeping six people across three bedrooms, this property is perfect for small families or groups who are in search of an arty coastal base to call home while they explore the Welsh coast together. Wander down to the golden sands of the beach (400 metres) for a dip in the sea, or try your hand at sailing, windsurfing or canoeing on the estuary. From Tywyn Wharf station (4 miles), you can hop aboard a heritage steam train on the Talyllyn Railway to Dolgoch Falls, where a woodland trail leads past three sets of waterfalls.
Step inside and you’ll find a beautiful open-plan lounge and dining room, where a quaint bay window seat is the perfect spot to sit and watch the tide come and go across the estuary. Artworks by the owner hang throughout the house, so take a moment to admire them as you settle in. Whip up something tasty with local produce in the stylish kitchen, and then gather around the grand dining table to share an elegant dinner. Afterwards, sink into a sofa in the lounge area to plan tomorrow’s adventures. When the day is done, head upstairs and you’ll find a super-king-size bedroom with sea views, and a handy twin, along with a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Up on the top floor, a second super-king-size bedroom (with a zip-and-link bed can be arranged as twins on request at booking) sits under the eaves, with sash windows framing estuary views. Another family bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the layout.
Relax in the terrace by your townhouse’s front door, where you can dine alfresco at the table. A gate at the end of the row encloses the terrace, so little ones can play safely. At the back, you’ll find a private courtyard with cushioned seating and plenty of room to hang up wetsuits after a day on the water. The house is reached on foot along a pedestrian path up the hill, and a parking permit for one car is provided for nearby car parks (subject to availability), with on-street parking also available in the village.
