This traditional cottage, set on the owner’s farm, is ideal for one or two couples or a small family with older children. Located within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it offers walks from the door and is just a mile from the pub in Embsay – an ideal place to pause for a refreshing drink or a meal after a day outdoors. Embsay is also home to a heritage railway that takes you to Bolton Abbey (5.5 miles), where you can enjoy walks around its outstandingly beautiful landscape. The historic market town of Skipton is just 2.5 miles away, which boasts a well-preserved medieval castle, as well as a famous market, a beautiful canal, and a choice of shops and restaurants. Head to Malham Cove (13.5 miles) for far-reaching views after a steep climb; keen walkers could combine the visit with Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss waterfall.
Step into the open-plan living space, where you’ll find a comfortable lounge with a wood burner, making this a very welcoming spot in which to relax, especially in cooler months. Sink into the soft seating and pick up a book, switch on the Smart TV, or simply admire the glorious views over the garden to the dales beyond. A sturdy, farmhouse-style dining table is in place, ready for hearty breakfasts and sociable suppers. Preparing holiday meals will be easy in the compact kitchen, which includes everything you need, from a fridge/freezer to a slimline dishwasher. You’ll also have access to a washing machine in an external room. On the first floor, you’ll find two restful bedrooms, both with en-suites, as well as a reading room/office space, a quiet room with delightful views, perfect for catching up with admin or finishing the book you packed.
The garden is safely enclosed and has a large lawn as well as a decked area with seating and a charcoal BBQ, so on warm days you can indulge in al fresco meals, or perhaps a peaceful sundowner as you take in the panoramic views. The large driveway offers off-road parking.
