Escape in style to this charming cottage in the village of Kingsdown – just 3 miles from the historic seaside town of Deal. Sleeping five people across three bedrooms – with room for two more on a sofa bed – it’s perfect for families or groups of friends who are in search of an elegant seaside base to call home while they explore the beautiful Kent coast together. Wander down to the shingle of Kingsdown Beach (0.5 miles) for a paddleboarding session, and then follow the clifftop path to St Margaret’s Bay (3.5 miles) to explore the rock pools. Alternatively, head into Deal (3 miles) and try your hand at crabbing from the pier and then explore its castle, a massive Tudor fortress built by Henry VII. Further afield, make a beeline for Dover Castle (7 miles) to explore its fascinating secret wartime tunnels.
Step inside, kick off your shoes in the entrance hall, and make your way into the elegant lounge, where a big bay window floods the room with natural light. Whip up some of your favourite dishes in the stylish kitchen, and then gather everyone around the large central island to share a sophisticated dinner. Afterwards, slip away to the snug to warm your toes by the wood burner, which is set in a characterful brick fireplace, or host a movie night for the whole gang in the lounge. When the day is done, head upstairs, and you’ll find three bedrooms: a king-size with an ornamental fireplace and an en-suite WC, a lovely double, and a handy single. A sleek family shower room with a walk-in shower completes the layout.
Outside, you’ll discover an enclosed tiered garden with a patio. Fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco on a sunny afternoon, and then climb up to the garden’s top terrace to look out over the village rooftops. Private parking is available for one car in the garage.
