Gather family and friends for a wonderful break at this rural retreat on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. While the main accommodation is the house that sleeps four, there is the added bonus of a barn conversion that sleeps a further two guests – so everyone can have their own space. The properties are set on a working farm in Bardwell, just 2.5 miles from the historic village of Walsham le Willows, home to Langham Hall Walled Garden, and 10 miles from Bury St Edmunds. Brandon Country Park (14.5 miles) and Thetford Forest (10.5 miles) offer plenty of scenic trails to explore on foot, while Abbey Gardens (9.5 miles) and Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve (5 miles) provide further opportunities to get back to nature. Bressingham Steam Museum and Garden (11.5 miles) is a wonderful day out; ride one of the steam railways, take a turn on the Victorian gallopers, and stroll the 17-acre gardens.
The first property is a real showstopper. Step inside and the hallway leads through to the stylish kitchen, with light streaming in from the skylight set in the high, sloping ceiling. To the right is a spacious, king-size bedroom with a Jack-and-Jill en-suite shower room. Head left from the hallway, and you’ll enter the wonderful lounge/dining room. Bi-fold doors run the length of one side of the room, offering instant access to the terrace and sweeping countryside views. Alongside comfortable seating and a Smart TV in the lounge, you’ll find a dining table. Stairs from here lead up to another king-size bedroom, where you can enjoy the idyllic rural outlook from the comfort of the bed, and an en-suite shower room. The neighbouring property is also special – a peaceful haven sleeping two guests. It features an open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, with plush seating, a Smart TV and sleek, contemporary kitchen units. Completing the ground floor is a shower room. Head up the oak staircase and into the relaxing king-size bedroom.
During your stay, you’ll have a choice of outdoor areas. There is a terrace with sun loungers and a sofa, plus a BBQ if you fancy dining alfresco. And adjoining the second property is a courtyard with sofa seating. Parking for two cars is available at both properties.
