This spacious apartment in Downderry is a lovely base for families, friends and dogs looking for a seaside holiday. It’s set on Cornwall’s sheltered south coast, with a beach great for swimming and rock pooling just 75 metres away. Downderry has a handy shop and cafe not 10 metres from the property, along with a restaurant and pub within 75 metres. Further afield, follow the seawall from the village to Seaton Beach (0.5 miles), or swap the sand for a wander around Seaton Valley Country Park (1 mile). For more seaside outings, you’ll find more beaches at Portwrinkle (3 miles), Millendreath (4 miles) and Talland Bay (12 miles). Looe and Whitsand Bay are both 5 miles away, giving you more options for a day out – you could even have a go at surfing at the surf school at Whitsand Bay.
On arrival, pass through the wooden gate and notice the quirky outdoor shower before climbing the metal staircase to the apartment entrance, on your right. Inside, there’s a handy spot to leave coats and shoes before three more steps take you into the bright, open-plan living space. Wooden accents and a skylight give it an airy feel. The generous dining area and well-equipped kitchen, with its elegant grey units, make shared meals easy. After dinner, settle onto the large, comfortable sofas for a film on the Smart TV. There are two king-size bedrooms: one has an en-suite shower room, while the other leads through to a second shower room and a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds. The bunks have double beds below and single beds above – particularly handy for families.
Patio doors from the main living area open out to a furnished, stone-floored balcony with spectacular sea views. Equipped with an electric barbecue, it is a tempting spot for al fresco dining when the weather is kind. You’ll have allocated parking for two cars at the front of the apartment.
