A contemporary first-floor apartment within the Whitehall Landing complex on the banks of the River Esk, around 0.5 miles from the town centre. This deceptively large apartment overlooks the River Esk and Whitby’s characterful marina, thus enjoying a unique perspective of the town even seasoned visitors often miss. After ascending a lift and stairs into the communal hallway, the apartment opens with a beautifully-presented lounge/kitchen/diner, a bright and airy space with a range of comfortable soft furnishings and practical gadgetry, with river views best enjoyed via its Juliet balcony. You can even catch a glimpse of the steam trains as they venture in and out of the station. There is ample storage with the king-size and the twin bedrooms nearby, both of which are served by a good-size bathroom. While there is no outside space at the apartment, its easy access to Whitby town centre via Church Street is a more than adequate substitute.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Great Eskcape. The apartment as lovely views of the river and boat yard. It also as a outside parking space just near the door. You can walk into Whitby in just 15 mins. It is a mostly flat walk just one slope. We will definitely book again.

The apartment has great views of the river and even a view of the Abbey if you stick your head out of the French window and look right! For this we loved it. We also loved the peace and quiet, but appreciate this may not be the same all year round when the block is much busier. The beds are comfy and the apartment is lovely and warm once the heaterRead mores are on. We didn't know we had to turn the immersion on when we arrived so found there was no hot water only when one of us was in the shower. We rang the owner who thankfully answered the phone straight away and told us this, but we then had to wait for the tank to heat, which takes about an hour. We have recommended the owner adds this to the instruction book. It really wouldn't have been a problem if we had been told. Parking was perfect, once we found it. It is right outside the door (on the left as you look at the block) in a dedicated space making getting in and out super easy. We assumed it was inside the garage on arrival as there is a key for this and spend a while looking for the space, but then realised it was outside. Again this is information which would be useful to know as check-in is after 4p,m and it is dark at that time at this time of year. All in all we had a very comfortable stay and would certainly return at this time of year again. It was a lovely restful week in preparation for the madness of Christmas! Hide

Fantastic location by the river with easy walk into town. A parking space is a great asset, our car had a rest and we used buses to enable us to walk the lovely coastal routes to Robin Hoods bay and Runswick. The apartment was lovely and clean. It had lovely views of the estuary and the railway. It was comfortable enough for four people. The apartment had its own parking space. There was a lift which was useful with heavier bags. It was also quiet in the building, there was no noise from other guests/residents. There is a really good chip shop nearby anRead mored the supermarkets are only a short drive a way. (There is a coop in the town centre). Hide

Good location, 15 mins to Whitby centre, great to have a parking space. Good views and whilst no outside space belonging to apartment there are a couple of benches outside facing the river. Apartment clean and generally comfortable except the double bed unless you like a really hard bed!

The flat seems in a popular location with several other holiday flats nearby. The views are nice of the estuary and we enjoyed seeing the steam trains at the other side of the estuary. The flat is comfortable and in a nice quiet location, but it is quite a walk to Whitby centre and we wouldn't have wanted to do it late at night. One thing to notRead moree, in the description of the flat it states there is a lift - we did not see one! The apartment was in a lovely location - we have stayed at Whitehall Landing before and the town is very accessible on foot along the riverside but far enough away to be peaceful. The apartment had great views of the town and river with all its wildlife - we saw a seal and a kingfisher as well as the wading birds. The property itself was very cleanRead more, well equipped and comfortable with its own parking space very close to the entrance - a major plus in Whitby. There is a little fish and chip shop two minutes walk and a pub 5 mins walk - you don't have to go into town for either. Both are good although a tip for The Middle Earth Tavern - its oddly table service including outside seating - although a super little pub regardless. We have stayed in Whitby four times and this is the best accommodation we've had. Hide

This is a lovely apartment. It was spotless on arrival. It is light and airy and the decor I would describe as modern. It had everything you needed and the allocated parking is definitely a bonus. The trains are Read morejust across the estuary but believe me they are no trouble at all I enjoyed watching them and it added to the charm of this apartment. Being on the estuary we saw herons, egrets, swans and plenty of ducks. It is only a short walk into Whitby to enjoy a good selection of shops, cafes and bars. We took a walk on the west cliffs and went to a Dracula play at the Abbey which was well worth a visit. We also took a train ride to Goathland. We have been to Whitby a lot over the years and this is definitely in our top 3. Thankyou for a lovely relaxing week. Hide
