Lakenheath is a charming village with a pub, restaurant, and a handful of local shops. On the outskirts of the village is RAF Lakenheath, making it the perfect base for plane enthusiasts. From the village, there’s a lovely walk through the nature reserve at RSPB Lakenheath Fen or, further afield, pick up the tracks and trails through Thetford Forest - High Lodge (9 miles) or Brandon Country Park (7 miles). Thetford Forest also has a Go Ape, for those seeking high-adrenaline adventures. Alternatively, take a peaceful stroll around Lynford Water, 13 miles away. The historic town of Bury St Edmunds is 16 miles away and boasts a fantastic array of independent shops and eateries, along with stunning public gardens and atmospheric abbey ruins.
The 18th-century property has its own private entrance and is set within the owner’s garden. Inside, the main living space is a bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner arranged across two levels, with a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, and characterful, repurposed furniture. Tucked at one end is a cute kitchen area for rustling up hearty feasts using local ingredients, to share at the dining table or outside on the terrace. From the dining area, a couple of steps lead to the cosy lounge, where you can relax in front of the Smart TV or choose a book to read from the extensive collection. The master double bedroom is cleverly concealed behind a library wall and has its own en-suite bathroom featuring a fabulous whirlpool bath. Just off this bedroom is a small sauna – perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. At the opposite end of the cottage is the twin bedroom and the family shower room.
Outside, steps lead to an enclosed decked area with furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. Private parking is provided for one car, with further on-street parking (unrestricted) outside the property.
