Set between the quintessential Kent villages of Smarden (2 miles) and Bethersden (2.5 miles), this inviting cottage makes a lovely base for couples, friends or a small family. Both villages are known for their historic buildings and picturesque rural surroundings, and both have welcoming pubs and shops. A little further away, browse independent boutiques, stop for coffee or wander the cobbled streets of Tenterden (7 miles), affectionately known as the ‘Jewel of the Weald’. Leeds Castle (13 miles) promises a fun family day out, with its magnificent setting and centuries of history to discover. Here for the cycling? You won’t be disappointed, with scenic routes winding through the surrounding countryside. Local wildlife parks, vineyards and heritage railways also provide plenty of variety for days out in the area. If you fancy swapping green fields for sea air, the beach is 21 miles away.
On arrival, step inside and leave coats and shoes in the entrance hallway before continuing into the welcoming lounge/diner. The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed for preparing breakfasts, picnics and evening dishes, and there’s a dining table seating four for leisurely meals. After a busy day, settle down in the spacious lounge to watch the Smart TV or curl up beside the wood burner on a chilly evening. A handy cloakroom with WC completes the ground floor. Upstairs, tucked into the eaves, are two comfortable twin bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower room and WC, so that everybody has plenty of privacy.
You’ll have plenty of outside space, too – the enclosed garden is perfect for enjoying the fresh air, with a lawned area and patio seating for drinks or meals alfresco. There is private parking for two cars, making arrivals and departures straightforward.
