A stunning, modern retreat, tucked away in a tranquil setting north of the Firth of Forth, this outstanding hideaway makes an idyllic, romantic retreat. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom bothy sits among the trees, 6 miles from Alloa. Head out on foot or by bicycle to discover your magnificent surroundings from the doorstep. You can even hire bikes on the estate on which you are based. Beautiful Gartmorn Dam Country Park is just 7 miles away, while the 117-mile Fife Coastal Path begins in Kincardine, 4.5 miles away, taking you out alongside the Firth of Forth as far as Newburgh. Venture across the water to see the famous Kelpies, the world’s largest equine sculptures, 12 miles away. While you are here, book a canal boat trip on the Falkirk Wheel, a spectacular rotating boat lift, which links the Forth and Clyde Canal to the Union Canal 35 metres above it.

Climb the steps up to the wooden deck surrounding the bothy. Pause to admire the simple yet chic design of the building, which has been created to sit comfortably within the natural environment. Enter to find the minimalist approach has been applied to the inside as well, where there are understated yet chic Scandinavian-style wooden interiors throughout. Discover the accommodation centres on an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where you and your loved one will spend most of your quality time together. Lay a fire in the wood burner in here on chilly autumn and winter days. Make a cup of tea in the compact kitchen area to enjoy with a slice of sourdough bread and honey from the welcome hamper. Slide open the glass doors when the weather is warmer to bring in a fresh country breeze. Cuddle up on the plush blue velvet love seat to take in the leafy views through the large picture window. Prepare meals for two in the steam oven, then decide whether to dine inside or out. Also downstairs is your contemporary shower room. As the sun sinks behind the trees, carefully climb the open-tread, wooden staircase up to your bedroom on the mezzanine level. Here you have a sumptuous super-king-size bed that can also be made up as two singles if discussed in advance.

Spend as much time as possible being at one with nature out on the deck. Share a bottle of wine out here as the stars appear above you. Light the firepit in the lower garden area and toast beside it as you listen for the call of the owl. There is parking on site. Bikes may be stored beneath the bothy.
