Following the Moray Coast Trail westwards, the site of the Burghead Pictish Fort sits at the end of a long sandy bay leading via the beautiful Roseisle Country Park to the idyllic Findhorn Bay (11 miles). Heading inland, the historic town of Elgin has a choice of independent cafes and shops, and is home to the remains of the ancient Elgin Cathedral.
