Lovely spacious family lodge, spotlessly clean especially for being pet friendly, homemade bread and scones on arrival was a lovely touch, had a great relaxing weekend with plenty of walks around the estate, would thoroughly recommend

The house was amazing, spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable, kitchen well equipped, though I have to point out the cooker door doesn't close properly , which made the knobs extremely hot when in use, really feel this needs to be addressed . However having said that the grounds of the estate are beautiful and my grandchildren absolutely loved exRead moreploring these it was so peaceful there.. We would definitely book . Hide

Several issues arose when we first arrived which was on a Sunday afternoon. Firstly the code for the internet did not work , there was no welcome pack . The kitchen lacked sufficient cutlery, pans ,glasses- there was only just enough for the five of us , good job there wasnt seven of us . The oven door presented a health hazard as it did not close Read moreproperly, the estate office knew about this and had been told about it since last September! The lock in the outside door needed some lubrication as it was very stiff to open. However we did enjoy our stay but it does need someone to assess the property and make sure the facilities are up to speed. Hide

We enjoyed a great week. Convenient for many lovely places within reasonable distance, Wigtown and Castle Douglas with good shops, super beaches and good walking / biking, but mind the potholes! The walks around Penninghame with so much birdsong are memorable. A great week and if you enjoy garden visits, you could fill the whole week.
