A superb, contemporary Dumfries and Galloway hideaway, this exceptional lodge looks across Mossyard Beach and White Bay. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom cottage is well positioned for South West Scotland’s coast and countryside. Wander just 150 metres down to the beach, where you can picnic on the sand and, on occasion, treat yourself to a sauna after a bracing sea dip. Venture into the former mill town of Gatehouse of Fleet, 5 miles away, for afternoon tea or a wee dram of Scottish whisky. Visit the Mill on the Fleet centre while you are here to find out more about the area. Make a few sandwiches, pull on your walking boots and amble out on foot to discover your surroundings. Take time to see the Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns, 3.5 miles away, which have been in existence since the fourth millennium BC. Magnificent Galloway Forest Park begins 12.5 miles away.

Drive right up to the door of the house to carry your luggage inside easily. Take three steps up to enter and find your accommodation is arranged across one level. The focal point of the lodge is its wonderful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Here you will gather to unwind, socialise and dine together. Sink back into a soft grey sofa as you lose yourself in the incredible views through the glass gable-end windows. Slide the glass doors here back onto the wooden deck on fine days to bring in the salty sea air. The chic, gleaming white kitchen has been fitted out to a high quality to ensure smooth self-catering for your party. Prepare meals here, then decide whether to dine at the table inside or out. Listen to music, play a game or find an exciting movie on the Smart TV afterwards. There is a good selection of books, DVDs and games at the cottage to choose from. When you are ready for the sleep of kings, discover your bedrooms are just as beautifully finished as the rest of the lodge. There are two lovely twins, plus a sumptuous super-king-size room, with an en-suite shower room. There is also a useful utility room within the cottage.

Make the most of your enclosed deck on sunny days. Cook on the BBQ out here and dine as you absorb the incredible coastal scenery. Please be aware that the landscaped area behind the lodge is not enclosed. There is private parking here for guests.

We stayed in Muir Lodge for a week in October, and had a lovely relaxing break. The Lodge was beautifully decorated & by far the best equipped place we have stayed (the owners have obviously put much thought into it!) We received a lovely welcome pack upon arrival. The site itself was lovely and quiet, very well maintained. Views from the Lodge werRead moree amazing, and the dogs loved visiting the beach. Great based for exploring the local area. Sadly the onsite shop was not open when we visited, biy disappointed as we were looking forward to sampling some tasty treats. We would highly recommend Muir Lodge & others located at Mossyard ... having already passed on the details to others. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday!! Hide

We simply love Mossyard and although I have been holidaying there since childhood, neither I, nor any of our family group had stayed in Muir lodge until last week. On this trip we were a family of 6 adults and one toddler. We all agreed that we did not need anything larger - the size and layout suited us perfectly. The lodge was clean, nicely furRead morenished and very well appointed. Muir lodge has a wonderful view over the bay, plus it enjoys great sunsets. We enjoyed a delightful week there and will return of course. During the stay we had an issue with hot water which was swiftly resolved to our satisfaction. Hide
