This lovely lodge at Mossyard, a working farm in a magnificent coastal location, is ideal for families and friends seeking a quintessential seaside retreat, with a sandy beach less than 500 metres away. The property is the perfect base for exploring Southern Scotland and lies just 4 miles west of Gatehouse of Fleet. The pretty mill town of Gatehouse of Fleet offers independent shops, a cafe and plenty of walking and cycling in the scenic surrounding countryside. The beautiful beaches are among the main attractions of the area, and you will love spending a day on the sandy shores at Carrick Beach and The Dhoon Beach, both within 13 miles. Threave Garden and Nature Reserve and the foodie town of Castle Douglas are less than 20 miles away. Alternatively, the entrance to Galloway Forest Park, for walks and easy family cycling, is 16 miles away.

There are three steps to enter this impressive home-from-home, and the rest of the property is on a single level. The entrance takes you through the handy utility room and into the hallway, where, if you turn left, you walk through to the inviting, spacious open-plan kitchen/dining/living area. This is a wonderfully welcoming space with plenty of comfortable seating for relaxing and taking in the splendid sea views. As you enter the space, on your left is the lovely kitchen with all the appliances needed to make meal preparation a breeze. In front of the kitchen is a lovely dining area with seating on three sides, so you can linger over meals while reliving the day’s activities. The main lounge area is ideal for a lazy afternoon tea or chatting over a drink in the evenings, and if you can take your eyes off the views, there is a TV for entertainment. Pop a log on the wood burner to keep you snug on chillier evenings. This social space is bathed in natural light from the two sets of doors that lead out onto the enclosed wooden decking. Heading back along the hallway, there are two lovely twin bedrooms on the left and a chic family bathroom on the right. At the end of the hallway is a charming super-king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room. All the bedrooms have plenty of storage.

Head outside onto the enclosed deck to enjoy marvellous views of the far-reaching coastal vistas across to Fleet Bay at the front, and evening sunsets over Ben John and the Galloway Hills at the rear. There is garden furniture and a BBQ available, making this the perfect spot for memorable evenings dining alfresco. Private parking is available.
