Located on a working farm, this pretty cottage is well located for a family of four who love exploring the great outdoors and spending days on pretty beaches. On the site, there is a handy farm shop, and just 200 metres down the beach path is Mossyard Beach, a sandy, peaceful stretch with superb views. Gatehouse of Fleet (5 miles) has a couple of pubs, but there are plenty of places to eat along the coast at the various holiday parks. Take a hike at Kirkmabeck Quarry (7 miles) or the Fleet Viaduct (12 miles) and be rewarded with superb views. If you fancy trying out kayaking, sailing, or paddleboarding, travel to Galloway Activity Centre (26 miles) situated on the shores of Loch Ken.

Set right at the end of the road, this single-storey stone cottage is both characterful and comfortable. Stepping inside, the cottage-style kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals for all the family; leave the door open to allow the Galloway breeze to roll in. Head through to the lounge/diner, which is great for socialising and relaxing, warmed by the roaring wood burner. The owners have also provided a wide selection of books, games, and DVDs, as well as a handy welcome pack for guests. Play a board game at the dining table or sit on the sumptuous sofas or window seat that overlooks the far-reaching sea views from the windows. As the night draws to a close, the two bedrooms lead from the lounge: a king-size bedroom and a bunk bedroom, great for the kids. Adjacent to the kitchen is the property’s stylish shower room, which contains a shower and a WC. Completing the cottage is a utility room with laundry facilities and access to the back garden.

The enclosed garden is great for dogs and kids to play, while you rustle up tasty meals on the BBQ. Garden furniture and an outdoor tap are provided. Out the front is private parking for two cars.

A great experience, lovely relaxing holiday in peaceful cottage in beautiful surroundings. Beach walks, trips to Gatehouse and Kircudbright to wander and get great food. Cottage is so well equipped, generous starter pack and plenty logs for the fire. And the wee farm shop 2 minutes walk away is perfect for snacks or meat for the barbecue.

Amazing cottage, probably the best layout of any we've been to. They have thought of everything - outdoor tap, utility area, nice big bathroom shelf. The beds were so comfy, the curtains blocked out the light, there was more than enough wood for the fire and the welcome treats were very thoughtful. The view was amazing, and the 2 minute walk to theRead more beach perfect. It was lovely to sit out with my breakfast, and later to watch the bats and the swallows. Not our first visit to Mossyard but our first stay and it outdid my expectations. Plenty of visits for wet and dry days - recommend the Gem museum and Kirroughtree forest walks. Don't bother with Bruce's stone at Clatteringshaws - the visitor centre is shut but you only find out once you've entered the Pay carpark. Further down the Queens Rd I would recommend feeding the Red Deer ( take carrots and apples) and doing the round walk at grey mares tail waterfall. Wexalso took a drive to Wigtown and Isle of Whithorn, both lovely. Gatehouse of Fleet amd Kirkcudbright as ever, interesting and enjoyable. We would love to stay at mossyard again but understandably it is always fully booked! Hide

Absolutely wonderful cosy well equipped cottage facing the beautiful and wild coast. Log fire was lovely. We went to escape the fireworks as our dog is frightened of them and wasn't disappointed. It was silent on the 5th Nov. We had a view of the sea which was amazing and a morning welcome from the bulls in the field across from us. With only a 2 Read moreminute walk down to the sea, our dog loved it and the fantastic walks that were easily accessible by car. Most car parks 4 for a few hours.
