Perfectly peaceful, this idyllic cabin is tucked away on a working farm in the picturesque hamlet of Portyerrock. Rocky Portyerrock Beach is only a 250-metre stroll, and the surrounding area is brimming with opportunities for adventure, from cycling peaceful country lanes to wandering through ancient woodlands. There are miles of scenic coastal paths to explore and, for wildlife enthusiasts, the coast and countryside offer plenty of chances to spot seals, seabirds and other native creatures. Head to Isle of Whithorn (1.5 miles), a former seaport with great character, and see the 13th-century ruins of St Ninian’s Chapel, perhaps followed by a trip to St Ninian’s Cave (5.5 miles), an important pilgrimage site. As well as charming villages and towns to discover, numerous historical landmarks dot the peninsula. If you have green fingers, stunning Galloway House Gardens is just 6.5 miles away.

Sleeping up to two adults and two children, the timber-clad, single-storey cabin makes a wonderful family escape or romantic retreat. There’s one step up from the deck and into the welcoming, open-plan living space, featuring soft textures, ambient lighting and natural timber. Here, you’ll find a choice of plush seating, perfect for unwinding with a good book, a show on the Smart TV or simply sitting back and admiring the sea view. The compact kitchen area is equipped with a two-ring hob and combination microwave/oven/grill – all you’ll need to create tasty holiday treats – and there’s a dining space that’s ideal for either family meals or intimate gatherings. The master bedroom features a king-size bed (with limited, under-bed storage), while a separate space with 2’6” bunk beds is perfect for children. A generously sized shower room ensures a refreshing start to your days.

Through the patio doors, a private deck offers seating for four, making this the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee or an al fresco meal, or to soak in the stunning surroundings. For added indulgence, the wood-fired hot tub invites you to unwind under the sunlit sky or a canopy of stars. As night falls, festoon lights and colour-changing uplighters transform the space into a magical retreat for all ages. You’ll also have access to a shared garden with seating and a fire pit. Making getting around easy, parking is provided for one car.

Lovely clean cabin, lovely friendly host. Much smaller than I thought it would be and didnt realise we would have to maintain the hot tub ourselves, emptying, filling and lighting.

Rowan cabin was lovely, it was very clean, cozy with easily controlled heaters. Gillian made sure we had everything we needed and the welcome info provided was helpful. We all had a wonderful holiday (family of 4). The hot tub was lovely but it took a really long time to heat up which meant we couldn't spend as much time in it as we would have likeRead mored. We loved using the fire pit and toasting sausages and marshmallows. We would definitely recommend Rowan to others. Hide

It really surprised us when we arrived. Gorgeous location. Great hot tub. Love it that it is in the middle of nowhere but still close to places to get stuff. Lovely welcome basket too.

Very clean and well equipped. Lovely welcome gift from our hosts. Stunning views and quiet location. Loved seeing the cows each morning getting fed. The side pull out divider was a god send for keeping our dog in our area but also made our decking area feel very private. Nice forest walk near by aswell as small towns to visit. Certainly would returRead moren Hide
