Sitting within a vast working and sporting estate, this characterful retreat is ideal for those hoping to enjoy some traditional Highland pursuits. The Killiechonate Estate boasts numerous hiking trails, from gentle riverside strolls to more challenging hill walks in the Nevis Range and Cairngorm Mountains. Nearby, the River Spean provides a scenic spot, while wildlife lovers can expect sightings of red deer and golden eagles. Famous for its Commando Memorial’, Spean Bridge is home to a fine choice of eateries and shops selling local crafts and produce. Further afield, Fort William (11 miles) sits on the shore of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak. For less strenuous adventures, a gondola ride at the Nevis Range offers panoramic views, while the Jacobite Steam Train travels between Fort William and Mallaig – an iconic journey through the heart of the Highlands that famously features the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Once home to the estate’s head stalker, this traditional cottage has been tastefully updated to offer all the must-haves of home. Step through the front door and the spacious entrance has room to store all your outdoor gear. Kick off your walking boots and feel the warmth of the underfloor heating as you head into the social hub of your holiday, an open-plan space with a chic kitchen at one end and, close by, a contemporary dining suite. Beyond, the lounge area comes complete with a choice of sofas arranged before a Smart TV and wood burner, while a separate utility room has laundry equipment and a handy drying cupboard. A shower room completes the ground-floor layout, complementing the bathroom on the first floor, which is where you’ll also find three beautiful bedrooms: a double, a twin and a single room with its own TV.

Enjoy food and refreshments in the garden – a door from the kitchen offers an effortless link between your indoor and outdoor living spaces. Parking for two cars is provided.

The Cottage is exactly as described and as the photos show it. We had a great stay, the location is ideal. Communication was clear and all the info we needed was provided. We are a family of 4, having three rooms was ideal. Kitchen had everything we needed. Its a working estate, but there wasnt noise or issues from that. Lovely time with the family in the highlands. Stalkers cottage was well equipped. Slept well in the comfortable beds. In a lovely location. Loads to do in the area. Recommend canyoning and Via Ferrata with vertical limits. And obviously Ben Nevis! We also did the speed boat Loch Ness cruise which was lots of fun. The cottage is wonderfully secluded, surrounded by nature. Its the perfect place to unwind and relax. Beautiful tourist destinations (Glen Nevis, Glen Coe, Great Glen) are still within easy reach. The facilities (kitchen, etc.) are very good. There are plenty of shopping options in Fort William.

Very well organisied, especially the directions. The house and equipment was very good. It was very clean and cosy. Unfortunately we couldnt use the fireplace, it was just too warm outside. We loved the quiet and enjoyed sitting in the backgarden. We could highly recommend Stalkers Cottage.

We had a brilliant time at Stalkers Cottage. The cottage has everything you need for a self-catering holiday: a large, modern kitchen; a cosy dining and living room with a fireplace; spacious bedrooms (we slept wonderfully); and two bathrooms. Our every wish was catered for. The peace and quiet of the secluded setting in which the cottage is situatRead moreed was fantastic. We were able to go on some lovely excursions, including by train. The station is about 1.5 miles away (a car is advisable). The staff at the cottage management were extremely friendly and very kind. Whenever we had any questions, they replied straight away and took great care to enquire about our well-being. Thank you very much! Well be back! Hide

Great location tucked away near Spean Bridge. Beautiful scenery all around apart from the house opposite that has seen better times. Lovely location and lovely house but spoilt by lack of attention to detail and a feeling of sloppiness. The Roman blinds are lovely but previous guests have fiddled with them so some fail to reach the bottom of the windows. Youd never know unless you lower them. One knife in the knife block has a large lump missing - again youd not know unless youRead more tried to use it. Chopping boards are so thin they are pretty useless. There is nothing to cook anything in the microwave - plastic lidded bowls for example. More attention to drying walking kit would be good for such a property as this. Recycling information very poor - we asked staff in Estate office onsite for help with where to take glass bottles and their help was incorrect. We ended up taking it home. More info on local walks would have been appreciated. Hide
