Wellbeing is woven into every detail of this charming cottage on Scotland’s Solway Firth – a wonderful retreat for families or groups of friends seeking outdoor adventure and coastal relaxation. A favourite destination in Dumfries and Galloway, Kippford is a picturesque seaside village with a lively centre, welcoming waterfront cafés and eateries, and several sailing clubs and launching points that invite visitors to take to the water. Whether you’re hiring a boat locally or bringing your own to make use of the slipways, this is an ideal destination for exploring the Irish Sea. Those who prefer to stay on dry land can admire the passing sailboats while walking the scenic Jubilee Path to Rockcliffe (5 miles), where a small beach provides the perfect picnic spot. Further along the coast, the beaches at Sandyhills (5 miles) and Southerness (11 miles) offer even more opportunities for seaside adventures.

Lovingly maintained with a traditional farmhouse feel, this delightful cottage encourages guests to slow down and unwind. Step into the sitting room, where a charming window seat sits within a bay window – the perfect place to relax with a book. A wood burner adds warmth and atmosphere, while an abundance of sofas and armchairs ensures everyone can settle in comfortably. Next door, a cosy snug provides additional seating along with a TV and DVD player. The dining room and kitchen are also located on the ground floor, connected by an open alcove that makes serving meals effortless. Boasting another beautiful sea-view window, the dining room provides a wonderful setting for leisurely breakfasts and evening meals. A utility room and a family bathroom with an adjacent, separate shower room complete the ground floor. Upstairs, all four bedrooms have the use of a shower room. Three of the bedrooms feature versatile zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if required, while the fourth is ideal for children, with narrow 2’6” bunk beds.

Outside, breathe in the fresh sea air and take in the stunning coastal views from the garden – a bright, grassy space furnished with benches for relaxing outdoors. Private parking is available.

I have been holidaying at Elm Cottage for many years and regard it as unbeatable, unsurpassable. It provides a magical respite from the busyness of working life and I can think of nowhere I would rather be to rest and relax.

Not the first time we have stayed here and as always it proved to be great. Location is second to none with a great view from the porch. The cottage itself is large and spacious with a big living room. and a great log burner for the winter months. Although the kitchen is a bit limited for working space it has everything you need for self catering. We had a lovely week despite the poor scottish weather!! the cottage is lovely and clean throughout and was lovely to wake up to the sound of the water. Lovely beach right outside cottage and great walks for the dog. Only disappointment was the poor communication about the cottage being pet friendly. We booked at short notice and after booking we rRead moreeceived communication that the dog had to sleep in the back kitchen and not allowed upstairs. Our dog has free run of our house so we needed to adapt the dog's sleeping arrangements. We are not quibbling about the pet arrangements at the cottage but these should have been upfront in the cottage description, we would have seen them and not booked this cottage. Hide

Awesome cottage in a fantastic location. Well equipped and very spacious property. A dog friendly layout inside and out which is important to us. The twin lounge set up was great, youngsters in the tv room and the book readers given peace in front of the log burner!
