Gather loved ones for an unforgettable Scottish escape with a stay at this light-filled and spacious home. Sleeping up to six guests, it’s the perfect choice for families and groups of friends exploring Southern Scotland together. Whilst the property is positioned on the fringes of Torthorwald (0.5 miles), a quiet village, the town of Dumfries (4 miles) offers a wider range of attractions and amenities. This large market town is alive with historic architecture, pretty spots along the banks of the River Nith and a strong connection to Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns. The Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum is a highlight (3 miles), and you’ve also got a wide selection of golf courses to choose from, all within 5 miles. For memorable seaside adventures, make your way to the Solway Firth (15 miles) to explore Caerlaverock Castle (12 miles) and the sandy shores of Southerness Beach (20 miles).

Hardwood flooring, whitewashed walls and spacious rooms make this single-storey holiday home a modern, refreshing retreat. Step inside via the hallway, where you’ll notice a convenient boot room for storing outdoor gear. The central hub of the house is an open-plan living space, where the lounge, kitchen and dining room provide an effortless backdrop for your days to unfold. The kitchen is tucked into one corner, with quality appliances and ample worktop space. A utility room sits right beside it, providing space to take care of laundry between days out. The dining area features a large table with bench-style seating, while the lounge area offers soft sofas, a Smart TV and bi-fold doors that frame views towards the Solway Firth. Just off this space, a second lounge provides even more room to unwind. With additional sofas, another Smart TV and a wood burner, it’s the perfect spot for cosy nights in. Off the main living space, a hallway connects all three bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom. Each room is bright and spacious: two are designed as king-size bedrooms, and the third is a generously sized twin. One of the king-size bedrooms also benefits from its own private en-suite.

Making the most of its rural position, the property boasts a generous garden with plenty of lawn space. Entirely enclosed, this large outdoor space features a patio area with outdoor furniture and that all-important hot tub for late-night soaks. Ample off-road parking is also available at the front of the property.

This is our second stay at Berryrigg Cottage and its a home away from home. It has all the home comforts that you could possibly need and Elaine and Tom have thought of everything. The cottage is spotless (big shout out to the cleaner who does an amazing job!). Everything you could need in the kitchen with lots of lovely touches from the WelcomeRead more basket to the robes and slippers for the hot tub. The rooms are spacious and the views are simply stunning. The hot tub is a lovely addition to just sit in and soak up the views in the peace and quiet. The location is quiet, which we loved, and has a spacious garden which was great for the kids to play in and also has a clothes line if you wish to dry clothes outside (pegs provided!). With two teenagers, wifi was a must and we had no issues with this when we were there. It is about a 10 minute drive to Aldi which has loads of parking and about 15 minutes to Tesco and a retail park. Loads to do with the kids if they are younger and would highly recommend Dalscone Farm Fun if you are looking for a smaller farm park. This is a favourite of ours and would highly recommend. We will definitely be back next year! Hide

This is a lovely holiday cottage. It is fully refurbed and as such is spotless throughout with everything new (including white goods) and working perfectly. The layout is great - with two separate sitting areas (with big telly !!), with one having the log burner - so cozy and works perfectly. Kitchen has everything you need - including pots, pans,Read more plates, cutlery etc (even a sharp knife in the kitchen). Bonus on top - hot tub is brilliant - set just outside the patio doors. The road for the cottage is essentially a single width field road - so is deathly quiet all day and night - the odd car that's all. Beautiful view all the way across Dumfries to the coast. All in all - highly recommended - easy reach to "civilisation" - i.e. shops/supermarket - but fully quiet and peaceful. Hide
