The market town of Castle Douglas (17 miles) makes a great day out. Known as the region’s foodie capital, you’ll find over 50 independent restaurants and artisan shops showcasing local produce. For outdoor enthusiasts, a visit to Galloway Forest Park (25 miles) is a must, with its network of trails and jaw-dropping views. Alternatively, head to the Solway Firth for a coastal walk or a picnic on one of the sandy beaches, such as Rockcliffe or Sandyhills (both within 20 miles).
The stone-built former coach house has been lovingly transformed into a welcoming holiday retreat. The decor is neutral and relaxing, and carefully chosen accessories and artwork remind you of your Scottish setting. A path through the attractive garden leads to the front door and into an entrance vestibule, where you can leave your outdoor attire. From here, head through to the inviting lounge, where an array of comfortable seating is set around the TV. Patio doors open from here to the garden, allowing indoor/outdoor living in summer months. The separate kitchen/diner is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering getaway, along with a wooden dining table for sharing mealtimes as a group. Also on this level is an elegant double bedroom and a cosy single bedroom with patio doors leading to the garden. Rounding off the ground floor is a shower room and a handy utility room. The remaining bedroom - a double – is nestled under a sloping ceiling with skylights on the first floor. Completing the accommodation is a stylish bathroom.
Outside, bask in the sunshine in the beautiful cottage garden. There’s a patio area with furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining, and beyond this is a lawn surrounded by colourful flower beds. Private parking is available at the property.
