Wild and remote, this stunning part of the far north-west of Scotland is renowned for its spectacular coastline, dotted with unspoilt beaches and surrounded by dramatic mountains. The cottage makes a superb place to stay for couples, friends or families looking to enjoy the great outdoors. Some of the best hill walking in the UK is possible locally, as is golf, fishing, and even cave exploration – Smoo Cave is less than a mile away, a spectacular natural wonder with limestone formations and underground waterfalls. Bird watchers will be in heaven, looking out for eagles and listening for the rare corncrake. Nearby beaches are spectacular, and include Sango Bay, just metres from the door, as well as Balnakeil and Ceannabeinne, both within 3 miles. The village of Durness, the most north-westerly on the British mainland, is around 2 miles away and has a shop and two bars/restaurants.

The whitewashed cottage is set over two floors and is traditionally furnished for comfort and practicality. It boasts a long sunroom that runs along most of the front, offering panoramic views from its comfortable seating – the perfect place for a quiet moment with a cup of coffee. Alternatively, the cosy lounge has an open fire in a stone surround and a TV on which you can watch the DVDs provided (there’s no signal in this remote location). Flowing from the sunroom, the kitchen/diner is a generous space with ample room for everyone to gather around the farmhouse-style table for long, sociable meals. The cook will be well equipped with everything they need, with a choice of an AGA or a conventional cooker, plus a microwave and a dishwasher. The utility has space for an extra fridge/freezer and leads to a useful downstairs shower room with a WC. Completing this level is the first of three twin bedrooms, which boasts an en-suite bathroom. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll find two further twin bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, the other having an en-suite shower.

To the front of the property is a patio with a picnic bench – a wonderful spot in which to sit with a drink or a meal and take in the glorious views. A large, gravelled area provides ample private parking.

Lovely homely cottage with the most relaxing and satisfying view. A perfect house for a family who enjoy the outdoors. The Aga in the cottage welcomes you back after a swim in the sea or when caught in a unexpected downpour. The kitchen and front seating area are always warm, creating a lovely sense of comfort. The beds are comfortable and the snugRead more living room at the rear offers yet more space for your group. A lovely area to explore with great beaches within a short distance from the house. This was our 3rd stay and great to see the Red Deer returning to graze just across from the cottage at the croft ruins. We will return again, because few places compare to Sangobeag. Hide

Fantastic views from the cottage and abundance of wildlife.......just great. Aga kept the cottage warm. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. Some good walks from the door. Across the road there's access to the beach where otters play in the evening light. A beautiful part of Scotland.

The cottage was warm and comfortable with outstanding and beautiful views of the bay. It's location is ideal for exploring the area, and the beach is a very short walk away. This resulted in a most enjoyable holiday.

The house has plenty of space, the decor is a little tired and some bits are in need of repair but the view is to die for. The bedrooms are comfortable and the downstairs shower has amazing water pressure. The kitchen area is vast and their is enough room to seat eight round the table. The house has an interesting heating gradient from hot near theRead more arga to cold at the far end. The bedrooms have little heating pads under the bedding, which makes getting in lovely. And if you feel the cold there are heaters in every room. The place has WiFi it's not sparkling but enough to browse on. The sun lounge extension runs the length of the house and has commanding views of the beautiful beach below. You can access the beach by walking down past the private house just across the little road that runs along the front of the property. The tides are quite gentle and there are caves you can explore one on foot the other via a SUP or canoe. There is also a little coffee shop 50 yards round the corner (perch on the edge) it keeps random opening times but does serve a good coffee and cake. Smoo cave is very nearby and worth a walk or a drive if your not into your steps. Definitely worth a stay as the cove is a world class beach that you'll have mainly to yourself. Hide

Property could do with updating, but for us, it was clean and had absolutely everything you could possibly need. Location is amazing. We wanted for nothing !! The property had a great warm feel to it too !! We would definately return !

Nice location, initial photos do not show road in front of house and give a slightly distorted image of views from the property according to brochure . That said well worth the trip the property is well equipped even though it's a little tired in places. The local deer made several appearances in the gardens throughout the time we were there
