Embrace the natural playground of Dumfries and Galloway, exploring both coast and countryside through scenic walks, hikes, and bike rides, before returning to recharge in this restful single-storey retreat. Southern Scotland is rich in striking landscapes and beautiful locations, including the vast Galloway Forest Park, around 10 miles away. Closer to home, discover the coastline with waterside walks from Wigtown (2.5 miles) or through the Crook of Baldoon (2 miles) – an RSPB reserve teeming with wildlife. Wander through the bluebell-carpeted Kilsture Forest (1.5 miles), following the red deer trail in the hope of spotting these elusive creatures among the beech and ash trees. Golf enthusiasts are well catered for, with three nearby courses, including one in Newton Stewart (10 miles), your nearest town for local amenities. The town is also home to the Galloway Distillery (8.5 miles), where you can enjoy tours and tastings.

Despite its traditional farmhouse exterior and whitewashed stone facade, this beautiful holiday home has been fully modernised to create an exceptionally comfortable stay. Laid out across a single storey, the property centres around a spacious dine-in kitchen, perfect for gathering over meals. After dinner, choose between relaxing in the bright and airy sunroom (up one step) – ideal for summer evenings and wildlife watching – or unwinding in the cosy lounge, perfectly suited to quiet nights indoors. All three bedrooms – two doubles and one twin – are thoughtfully equipped with Smart TVs, offering a peaceful retreat at the end of each day. These rooms are served by a well-appointed family bathroom, with an additional WC located at the end of the hallway for added convenience.

Outside, children can enjoy the grassy lawn at the rear of the property, while you take in the far-reaching hill and sea views beyond. Private parking is available on the gravel driveway at the front of the property.

Beautiful cottage. So well equipped :-) Lovely location. It was a delight to be there. I will definitely be back there for my next holiday. Look out for the "judgemental sheep" ...... I swear - they look at you funny when you are in the garden !!!

We stayed at Craigielea cottage for 4 nights in May 2925 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean and is warm, comfortable and inviting. There was a lovely welcome basket waiting for us, which was very much appreciated after a long journey. The cottage is equip with everything you need and is perfectly located as a base to eRead morexplore the local area (which is beautiful). The views from the bedrooms and conservatory are stunning, we didnt turn the TV on once, the views and the wildlife were entertainment enough. A huge thank you to our lovely hosts. We cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Hide
