6-10 October - We were very luck with the weather. Beautiful cosy cottage with stunning views out of the lounge. (The only tiny niggle was the lounge window as everyone looked in when walking past, this was also commented on in the visitors book in the cottage). The cottage is very well equipped with everything you need for a home away from homRead moree stay and the courtyard garden was lovely to sit out in. Take about a 5 minute walk down Mill Lane, across from the cottage and you are on the beach, its briliant for dogs, we had it to ourselves most mornings and evenings A little remote for us (10 mins drive to Port William - The View cafe was brilliant and there is a Spar and takeaway shop here, 20 mins to Wigtown and 30 mins to Newton Stewart). We were in the area for Skiffie Worlds, looking for somewhere to crash out & stayed at Tigh Samhradh for 8 nights. What a delightful suprise. Perfect place to relax & decompress. Good self-contained courtyard garden, practical porch with wide comfy bench for taking off boots then lots of useful places to put shoes & some really useful kit to use (iRead morencluding an OS map). Once inside house it is a bit tardis like. Good size living room and fine size bedroom & bathroom. Well appointed kitchen with big fridge, dishwasher, washing machine. The cottage design was really clever. Lots of clever storage everywhere so you could put all your bags and clothes away (& smart places contained useful stuff like ironing board). Everything tucked away neatly so the unfussy, elegant, relaxing design didn't get cluttered. Big west facing window had a deep, comfy window seat for sunset. Lots of details like some tea and coffee, jars of cooking herbs & other bits and pieces for arrival and the place was spotlessly clean, despite the fact that it is very welcoming to dogs. Outwith cottage Monreith is very peaceful. Step across the road and you can go down a track and be on the beach within a minute or so. Wigtown not far away if books are your bag to sit and read with a nice G & T on that sunny windowseat! Hide

We love this area and already have two different cottages booked for later in the year. This was an extra getaway so we thought we'd try somewhere else. We like Monreith for the sandy beaches at low tide and the St Medan golf course. Tigh Samhradh attracted us as we had seen it being redeveloped. We were not disappointed. It was beautifully presenRead moreted and equipped. We hope to return at some point. However, there were only two of us and our dog and we felt it might be a bit too cosy with four adults staying as the second bed is a sofa bed in the living room. Although we stayed in February with sunset before 6pm and this will be less of a problem during the summer with everyone out enjoying the wonderful walks and scenery. Hide
