The property is located just 1 mile from Dumfries town centre, in a quiet residential area where peace is assured. Take the short walk into this historic market town, the former home of Scotland’s national Bard, Robert Burns. If it’s golf you’re hoping to enjoy, you’ll be pleased to find Dumfries & Galloway Golf Club less than 500 metres away. Take a walk out of town along countryside pathways to reach Dalquhairn Woods and the Routin Brig waterfall (6.5 miles) or follow the river south towards the Solway Firth to discover the ancient fortress of Caerlaverock Castle (8.5 miles).

This chocolate-box cottage offers a characterful red-brick façade and pretty flora surrounding it, creating a storybook holiday destination for you to call your own. Step inside to find the open-plan lounge/diner, a welcoming space with a dining table set beside the patio doors, comfortable seating options and a TV/DVD with a selection of films to choose from. Let the wood burner fill the room with a warm glow during movie nights or mealtimes. Continue through to the kitchen, where all the necessary appliances and generous countertop space invite you to rustle up something tasty. Completing the ground floor, the property’s bathroom is conveniently located downstairs, fitted with a bath and shower over. Take the stairs up to the first floor to find two appealing bedrooms. The master bedroom is a spacious double with ample storage space for unpacking. The second room is a cosy single, an ideal spot for a younger guest or a handy space to store suitcases when not in use.

Comfortable, well-equipped cottage in lovely secluded spot but near the centre of Dumfries

A very pleasant stay at Belmont Cottage on the outskirts of Dumfries. The cottage, at the end of the garden of a private house, is very well positioned to be able to explore Dumfries and the local area and close to shops where we could obtain whatever we required. The local Kilnford Farm shop was especially useful in this regard. The cottage was coRead moremfortable and well apart from the main house so that we felt quite private as we pottered about both inside and outside. The owners are very pleasant and helpful and were happy to assist in whatever ways we required. Although the cottage bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom downstairs, we were very impressed with the motion sensor nightlights fitted on the stairs so that these illuminated without our having to search for switches during nighttime excursions. We found the cottage was furnished with everything we needed and with comfortable space to allow easy movement. All in all, we were very satisfied with our stay and shall undoubtedly be using it again in the future. Hide

We had a lovely time in this cottage. The garden was really nice. Unfortunately we could not enjoy sitting out in the garden as the weather not so good. We walked daily into Dumfries it took around 25 mins walking at a leisurely pace. The kitchen was very well equipped everything one would need. Very comfortable bed with plenty storage / hanging Read morespace. Bathroom down stairs wasnt ideal for through the night trips? The bathroom could perhaps do with a refurb a walk in shower instead of the bath option. We would certainly return to Belmont Cottage Thank you Hide

Nice cottage in a quiet and safe area. Only minor drawback is that the bathroom is in the ground level and the bedrooms are upstairs.

Our hosts were welcoming and supportive and we loved their beautiful garden. The road was quiet and it was easy to walk to the shops, the Robert Burns Arts Centre etc. The cottage was well equipped and there was lots of local information. We often sat outside for coffee and meals. The bed was comfortable and although one had to go downstairs to theRead more bathroom, there were automatic lights on the landing and stairs. Lovely place to stay in Dumfries - a home away from home. Quite spacious; all amenities work flawlessly; 15-20 minutes walk into town for shops and restaurants. The cottage is behind the main house, quiet and nicely secluded. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed our stay in Belmont Cottage. In the grounds ot the big house, parking, outside area to sit and enjoy the evening sun. Bedrooms very comfortable with plenty of space for your clothing etc. The sitting room/ dining area had all you needed and had lots of books and maps which were very useful. The bathroom was downstairs too, but great caRead morere had been taken to ensure that there was solar lighting on the stairs for safety during the night The Owners were very helpful but not intrusive.
