Your adventure in Southern Scotland begins here, with a stay in this delightful single-storey farmhouse, where up to six guests can relax in comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Set in the beautiful countryside surrounding Castle Douglas (3.5 miles), the property is just 2.5 miles from the River Dee and less than 10 miles from Galloway Forest Park, the UK’s first designated Dark Sky Park. Known as Scotland’s “Food Town”, Castle Douglas is celebrated for its exceptional local produce, independent shops, and excellent cafés, pubs and restaurants. Work up an appetite while enjoying the many outdoor pursuits available nearby, from scenic hikes and bike rides to fishing, water sports and wildlife spotting: Loch Ken, 9 miles away, is a popular destination. Threave Estate, run by National Trust for Scotland, lies on the edge of the town where the gardens and house are well worth a visit, as is Threave Castle.

Set on a working farm just a short distance from the owner’s farmhouse, this cosy cottage offers both convenience and privacy. It combines soft floral touches and antique-style furnishings to create a warm and homely atmosphere. Spend relaxed evenings in the lounge, where a coal-effect electric fire adds a welcoming glow to nights spent watching TV. A comfortable sofa bed in this room also provides additional sleeping space for two guests. The adjoining kitchen/diner is spacious and well-equipped. Along the hallway, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms. The first is a generously sized double room with a dressing area and en-suite WC, while the second is a cosy twin room. A shower room completes the cottage’s layout.

The owners are passionate gardeners, and the beautifully landscaped grounds are a true highlight of the property. Step through the patio doors from the lounge into your private garden area, complete with outdoor seating, or take time to explore the wider farm surroundings. Private parking is available.

It was a good experience and we were met by the owner who was helpful. Her husband chatted to us that evening when he came back and subsequently when we were out in the lovely garden. We visited as many places as we could in the short time we were there,

Lovely cottage in a rural setting yet only 10 minutes from civilisation. Very clean and comfortable. Needs modernising inside but that is reflected in the reasonable pricing. Only negative for us was the faint smell.of stale urine in main bedroom.

We have visited Dumfries and Galloway area few times before. Absolutely beautiful place with rolling hills and field with beautiful cows. Lovely, cosy cottage. Spacious and comfortable. Perfect for peaceful escape. Well equipped throughout. Best part for me was no WI-FI and signal was poor for me so it was so wonderful to disconnect from the interRead morenet and all those distractions. We played DVDs, played word games, read books, did bird spotting in the garden and explored the area. Living room had a fantastic view. I would definitely recommend the area and the cottage. Hide

Thank you for another lovely stay in Ernambrie Cottage. It's our home from home when we visit family nearby. It's so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside and yet not too far from Castle Douglas. We will be back for sure! It's a 5 star cottage for us but some people who don't want to 'get away from it all' may want something more modern.Read more But please don't change it - we love it just the way it is!! Thank you. Lovely cottage, great hosts. The scenery is beautiful. Ideally, need a car to get around, or a bike so you can really take in the scenery.
