This coastal bolthole enjoys a peaceful setting overlooking open fields in the charming village of Rockcliffe. The pet-friendly property welcomes six guests and suits both families and friends seeking a tranquil getaway on the Solway Coast. You’ll be less than 0.5 miles from Rockcliffe’s picturesque, sandy beach, where you can enjoy a picnic on a summer’s day or join the locals for a spot of swimming in the shallow waters. From the village, take a lovely walk through National Trust for Scotland land to the nearby village of Kippford (approx. 2 miles), which is the sailing centre for the area and also has two friendly pubs on the waterfront. The area is also a haven for wildlife, and at low tide you can walk across to Rough Island to visit the fascinating bird sanctuary. Keen golfers will be in their element, with several popular courses within easy reach, including a championship links course in Southerness (10 miles).

A small flight of steps leads to the secluded holiday retreat, which is decorated in a contemporary style with sleek furniture and little pops of colour in the accessories and soft furnishings. At the heart of the home is a bright and inviting lounge/kitchen/diner with large patio doors providing panoramic views across countryside and towards the sea. To the rear of the room is a chic kitchen with everything needed for a self-catering getaway, along with a cute breakfast bar for perching with a morning coffee. Gather at the contemporary dining table for memorable mealtimes as a group, before getting cosy in front of the wood burner to read a book or watch the Smart TV. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor – a double and a twin – both with dual aspect windows to really make the most of the picturesque setting. A stylish bathroom completes this level. Upstairs, set under a sloping ceiling, is a gallery-style twin bedroom with delightful views of the Solway Firth from the Velux window.

Patio doors from the lounge lead to a decked terrace where you can enjoy a glass of wine and marvel at the magnificent coastal landscape. Beyond the terrace, down a few steps, is a vast lawn with a picnic bench, BBQ, and ample space for outdoor games. Private parking is available for three cars.

We loved our holidays at Mallaig. The property is lovely, amazing views to the garden, the sea and mountains. The property was very clean and had everything you need to have an amazing holiday. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of books and board games for relaxing family nights (we loved the big dominoes). We had nice local walks. We saw deerRead mores and birds of pray near the cottage too. Our children love it and so did our cockapoo. I highly recommend it. The owners texted us a couple of times during our stay to check if we needed anything. Thank you. Hide

Great location, cottage had all we needed, peaceful. Really enjoyed our stay. Helped by fine weather. Double bed had thinner mattress than we're used to. Lots of places to explore and lots of walks nearby for outdoor and wildlife enthusiasts.

Great property with everything you need . Clean and spacious. Garden is huge and fantastic for our dog to run about in. Could have done with a better shower but that's the only minor gripe. All in all, highly recommended.
